Calif. Aid Request Spurned By U.S.
06-15-2009
•
Washington Post
Top state officials have gone hat in hand to the administration, armed
with dire warnings of a fast-approaching "fiscal meltdown" caused by a
budget shortfall. Concern has grown inside the White House in recent
weeks as California's fiscal condition has worsened, leading to
high-level administration meetings. But federal officials are worried
that a bailout of California would set off a cascade of demands from

Alongside Night - Free!
alongsidenight.net
Ron Paul: “J. Neil Schulman’s Alongside Night may be even more
relevant today than it was in 1979. Hopefully, the special thirtieth
anniversary edition of this landmark work of libertarian science
fiction will inspire a new generation of readers to learn more about
the ideas of liberty and become active in the freedom movement.”

It does not say that individuals have a right to happiness, just the right to seek it out however the individual defines happiness. The Declaration of Independence also states that the only purpose for the existence of government is to make sure all individuals have this right secured, i.e. no one initiates force on another interfering with their right to pursue happiness.
What all this means is that individuals do not need any permission from their government to pursue their happiness. They may need permission from other individuals or private businesses,

Police K9 Handler Fabricated False Dog Alerts To Get Convictions
06-15-2009
•
The Agitator
Police and prosecutors were apparently convicting people of violent
crimes based almost exclusively on the “testimony” of a police dog
whose handler claimed has extraordinary powers.
Judges and juries apparently bought this crap for years. It finally
came to an end when Judge Gilbert Goshorn ordered the dog to perform a
basic tracking test after Preston claimed the dog had alerted to a
suspect’s scent at a crime scene six months after the murder. The dog failed.
