The Second Eleven: Unusual Archaeology That Didn’t Make the A-List

• By Steven Strong, Evan Strong and Andy Whiteley
While these sites are less impressive than others, and often raise more questions than answers, that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth discussing. So today, we will present “The Second Eleven” – an obscure but appropriate cricket metaphor for a collection of interesting and unusual archaeology that just didn’t make the A-List. A False Start

Before Trina and her companion Tina escorted us onto country, she had already sent us photographs of a sizeable gallery of rock formations and markings. Some were quite interesting, some looked decidedly suspicious, others were probably natural, and many sat somewhere in between. Of course, at the top of our prospective ‘hit list’ were the two sites we have already discussed: the first, a complex stone arrangement that appears to be an ancient shrine, and the second, a grander stone structure that has the feel of an amphitheatre
