Satanic Monument Unveiled in Oklahoma

• Next News Network
A statue of Satan being designed in Oklahoma has been seen by reporters for the first time. The construction follows months of controversy and discussion, including an ongoing battle between the state and the ACLU. Designers announced their plans to build a Satanic monument on the front lawn of the statehouse in Oklahoma City one year ago. Standing seven feet tall, the design features Satan in the form of Baphomet. This goat-headed being has wings and a beard. He is surrounded by a pair of children. The Satanic Temple, based in New York, started plans for the statue after a monument to the 10 Commandments was placed on the statehouse grounds. The ACLU sued the state over the display. Lucien Greaves, spokesperson for the temple, said "The monument has been designed to reflect the views of Satanists in Oklahoma City and beyond. The statue will also have a functional purpose as a chair where people of all ages may sit on the lap of Satan for inspiration and contemplation."
