Republican Party turning to Marijuana?

Will the future of the Republican Party be decided between centrists and libertarians? The answer to that question could be decided in the next two years. One of the leaders of the new front in the party is reaching across party lines to sponsor civil rights legislation. In the U.S. Senate, Rand Paul, son of libertarian firebrand Ron Paul, and Democrat Cory Booker of New Jersey are co-sponsoring measures to reform the criminal justice system. The legislation seeks to restore welfare and food stamp benefits for criminals who have served their sentences. The bill will also protect juvenile offenders, including banning most solitary confinement for those under 18. The pair recently worked together to direct the federal government not to interfere in sales of legal medical marijuana.
