A Resolution Concerning the Second Amendment of the Constitution

A Resolution of the Unregistered Baptist Fellowship Concerning the Second Amendment of the Constitution for the United States of America

Cleveland, Texas - February 18-19, 2013

Whereas, the Holy Bible (King James Bible) is the only infallible guide for our churches, and,

Whereas, Jesus Christ, in the Holy Bible, in Luke 22:35-36, says: “…When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, Nothing. Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.”

And whereas, in these verses, Jesus commands His disciples to make use of shoes, purse and scrip (i.e. wallet, money, luggage), although they should never trust in these, independently from God, or more than God. In the same manner, we should never trust in earthly weapons to the neglect of God, or more than God.

Whereas, as Christians rightly obey the Lord in utilizing purse and scrip, in the same manner, we should obey the Lord Jesus in arming ourselves for self-defense; and when we do so with the right spiritual mind, such provision for arms is as much a part of our holy stewardship as the use of money or clothes, etc.

And whereas, Exodus 22:2, says that, “If a thief be found breaking up [at night], and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him,” it is clear that both the New Testament and the Old Testament reveal that self-defense (protection of ourselves or our families, etc.) is a God-given right and responsibility (although we do not believe in bringing in the Kingdom of God by earthly arms, or forcing conversion to Christianity),

And whereas, the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution codifies this Biblical, natural-law principle of self-defense,

Be it therefore resolved, that this God-given, Biblical, natural and Constitutional right to bear arms (i.e. guns) should not be violated under any circumstances.

The Unregistered Baptist Fellowship is a fellowship of pastors, evangelists, missionaries, and Christian laymen, and not a denomination that holds any authority over local churches. The Victory Declaration is a consensus of those present, and is recommended to be executed in all churches as God gives direction.
