House Seems To Be Set on Pork-Padded Defense Bill
07/30/2009
•
The Washington Post
The Democratic-controlled House is poised to give the Pentagon dozens of new ships, planes, helicopters and armored vehicles that Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates says the military does not need to fund next year, acting in many cases in response to defense industry pressures and campaign contributions under an approach he has decried as "business as usual" and vowed to help end.

President Obama Offers Military Technology To China For Debt Relief
06/25/2009
•
Clear Debt Now
Across the Pacific, China has been voicing concerns about the U.S. deficit. As the large holder of U.S. Treasury bonds, the Chinese government is currently one America’s biggest trading partners. It is understandable why Beijing is wary of the dipping value of the U.S. dollar
During the G20 Summit, President Obama spoke to Chinese Premier Hu Jintao. At this time, Mr. Hu suggested that if the U.S. provided relevant military technology, that the Chinese government would forgive some U.S. debt.
According to insiders, there is much turmoil in the Department of the Defense over Obama’s suggestion that they sell the blueprints for the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has openly opposed the President’s plan. As a result, Gates was asked to resign as Defense secretary if he does not wish to get the ball rolling.

Landmark Arizona Self-Defense Harold Fish Case Gets New Life
Thomas Costanzo
The Arizona Court of Appeals has thrown out the
conviction of Harold Fish and chastised the judge who tried the case. Mr. Fish
has been released from custody into his family's joyfully waiting arms, while
he awaits final resolution of his case.
Fish was the retired school teacher who shot a man who
charged at him swinging his arms and yelling threats in a forest outside of
Payson. Fish was convicted of second degree murder in 2006, in a trial many
thought was grossly unfair, and has spent the intervening three years in an
Arizona state prison. He had no prior criminal record of any kind. The Appeals
Court ruled, among other things, that Fish should have been allowed to
introduce evidence of his homeless attacker's violent past and the vicious
histories of the man's dogs which triggered the event.
The case was tried under an old abusive standard, quietly
slipped into law without review in 1996 by state prosecutors. This forced a

Baton-wielding Iranian
police fired tear gas and arrested protesters mourning the
young woman killed in post-election violence who has become a symbol
for the opposition to Tehran's hardline leaders.
The clashes erupted after hundreds of supporters of opposition

death on June 20 was captured on video and has been seen by hundreds of
thousands on the Internet.

Nigerian troops kill 100 Islamic militants
07-30-2009
•
Reuters
Security forces hunted door-to-door for Islamic militants in
northern Nigeria after killing more than 100 of them by
storming the sect's compound. A top rights group said innocent people
were getting executed in the process.
The government, which blames the Boko Haram sect for instigating
days of violence in the mostly Muslim region, shelled and stormed the
group's mosque and headquarters Wednesday night, setting off a raging
firefight with retreating militants.

Misinformation

A One World Currency Is Inevitable
07/30/2009
•
BlueLoriBlogSpot
A One World Currency is Inevitable or so says Laird and when you hear him explain why it sure looks like the Elitists are accomplishing their goal of a complete take over of the World with Global Control in other words the HATED "New World Order". Americans you have been effectively sold down the drain enslaved by our filthy politicians who lined their pockets along the way. The leaders will share the gains you will share the pain! You can expect to share the same conditions as the others who live in Third World Cesspools, think Mexico!
Here then is his explanation...
I know it sounds impossible, but the world is being forced to a point of having to implement a one world currency. Or at least a one world currency among the major economies - maybe Tunisia might escape.
Started with the USD

Even Bernanke Admits this Could be Worse than the Great Depression

As I have previously pointed out, the current economic crisis could be worse than the Great Depression. See this and this.
I have also pointed out that two economists said as recently as June that the global economic downturn was worse than the Great Depression.
But if you don't believe them, here it is from the horse's mouth . . .
Ben Bernanke said 3 days ago:

Economists Have Acted Like Team Doctors for the Financial Giants
07/29/2009
•
Washington;s Blog
The New York Federal has just published a new report entitled "The Shadow Banking System: Implications for Financial Regulation".
One of the main conclusions of the report is that leverage undermines financial instability:
That is true.
In fact, every independent economist has said that too much leverage was one of the main causes of the current economic crisis.
However, notwithstanding the NY Fed's recommendations, the Federal Reserve and Treasury have, in fact, been encouraging massive leveraging.

Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss?
07/25/2009
•
Newsweek
President Obama is expected to decide by autumn whether to give Ben Bernanke a second four-year term as Federal Reserve chairman. Obama's chief economic adviser, Larry Summers, has long been said to covet the job, while Bernanke has pushed back at the Obama administration on a couple of proposals, risking the president's displeasure. Bernanke says he doesn't agree with the need for a new Consumer Financial Protection Agency; the Fed has got a handle on that, he says, and in fact it has been announcing new rules for lending and meeting with consumer-advocacy groups regularly. Bernanke is also taking a somewhat different tack from Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and Summers over whether the Fed should supervise "systemic risk" in the financial system.
But Bernanke's performance during the financial crisis has been widely praised, making a move to replace him politically risky. Last week he silenced some critics in Congress by laying out an "exit strategy&q

Tired Of The Pumpers? So is Janet Tavakoli
07/30/2009
•
The Market Ticker
Reprinted from here; no comment necessary. This deserves wide distribution, and as such, guess what - I'm going to help in that endeavor.
Janet is one of the true bright lights when it comes to matters finance, which of course makes her persona-non-grata at the table of ideas when it comes to actually addressing what has gone wrong, and how to prevent it from happening again - just as is the case for the "evil bloggers" such as myself and Zerohedge.
The reason is quite simple: When you stop lying and intentionally obfuscating the facts you come to an inescapable conclusion: This event in our financial system was no accident, and those who are being touted as firemen who "put it out" in fact were the arsonists who set the fire in the first place.
Wake up America....

Swine Flu: What I Believe

A year later, in 1999, a very capable investment and portfolio
strategist asked me if he could come have a private lunch with me in
Washington. We sat in a posh restaurant across from the Capitol. He
said quietly that he had calculated out where the derivatives and debt
bubble combined with globalization were going. The only logical
conclusion he could reach was that significant depopulation was going
to occur. He said his estimates led to an approximate population of 500
million. I said very quietly, “that’s my estimate too.” I will never
forget the look of sadness that crossed his face. I was amazed to find
someone else who understood.

Newsweek: 'What Green Jobs? Washington Is Spending $60 Billion...But Not a Single Green Job Yet

Newsbusters
Newsweek magazine had yesterday a web exclusive entitled "What Green Jobs?"
Subtitled: "Washington is spending $60 billion to create the careers of the future, but not a single green job yet exists. Obama's 'green czar' explains."
The Leftist publication deserves some plaudits for exploring this $60 billion gaping hole in the $787 billion "stimulus" package President Barack Obama signed into law in February. But there are many points in the article where they could have done better.
It would have been nice, for instance, if Newsweek had exhibited some of the scrutiny they show here in advance of the massive plan's passage. They begin with an interesting realization:

Will Florida Ban National Health Care?
07-29-09
•
Tenth Amendment Center
On the heels of a successful state-level resistance to the 2005 Real ID Act, activists and state legislators alike are focusing their efforts on state governments as a way to resist new federal programs.
The latest? Health Care.
In response to what some opponents see as a Congress that doesn’t represent their interests, State Legislators are looking to the nearly-forgotten American political tradition of nullification as a way to reject any potential national health care program that may be coming from Washington.
The most recent effort comes from Florida State Senator Carey Baker and State Representative Scott Plakon, who this week filed a proposed State Constitutional Amendment (HJR37) as a means to prevent Floridians from being affected by any Federal Health Care Legislation. If approved by the legislature, Florida residents could be voting on it as early as 2010.
HJR37 would deny the ability of any new law to impose demands, restrictions or penalties on health care cho

Fed job approval rating lower than IRS?

Americans think the Federal Reserve is doing a worse job than even the much-maligned Internal Revenue Service.
Only 30 percent of Americans think the Federal Reserve's Board of Governors is doing a good job despite the central bank's unprecedented efforts to battle a crippling recession, according to a Gallup Poll released on Monday.
That makes the Fed the worst reviewed of nine key agencies -- including the tax-collecting IRS -- the Gallup poll of more than 1,000 Americans between July 10 and 12 showed. Twenty-two percent of Americans said the central bank was doing a poor job.
