Free people's minds and the future will bring us independence and freedom... this is what is feared by parasites that live off the productive.   Every government program is nothing more than an excuse to accumulate a bucket of money that can then be poured into the waiting bucket of those that created the accumulation of many different 'buckets of money'.   STOP THIS.... and the future is full of almost unimaginable wealth for even the poorest. Once this is realized, there will be a struggle for our... 'consent'.   Here are just a few examples to jump start your imagination.

Aug. 7, 1955: Tune In Tokyo!
08-08-2009  •  Wired
1954 things started to change.

In that year Tokyo Telecommunications picked up a patent from Bell Laboratories and license from Western Electric to make transistor radios in Japan.

The TR-55 served as the template for almost all the portable gadgets we use today. Everything from the iPod to the Game Boy can trace its basic handheld design to the TR-55’s form factor. More importantly, use of the transistor became widespread in all electronics allowing for the development of LCD TVs, smartphones and netbooks.

You know, basically all of the stuff Sony makes today.

Sony Camera Robot: You’ll Always Find Him On The Table at Parties
08-08-2009  •  Wired

Put your Sony camera onto the Party Shot and it will, Sony says, “act as your personal photographer.” The little mount is controlled by the camera and will tilt and zoom, seeking out any people in the room using the face detection in the camera.

Once it has locked on to its target, a deadly laser shoots out and, wait, no. Once on target it waits until it sees a big grin before tripping the shutter. It only works with the Cybershots TX1 and WX1, two otherwise humdrum but capable cameras announced yesterday by Sony.

This is a rather nice idea. Usually, party photos suck. They are blurred, the flash turns everybody into a chalk-faced ghost and everyone feels like they need to fix a rictus gash of teeth across their squint-eyed faces. This little gizmo would sit quietly on a table and, forgotten by the guests, silently pick out shots like some kind of robotic Cartier Bresson sniper.

I’m interested to see how well it does. Sony says that the robot ev  Read Full Story

ENSLAVING YOUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN... U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner formally requested that Congress raise the $12.1 trillion statutory debt limit on Friday, saying that it could be breached as early as mid-October. “It is critically important that Congress act before the limit is reached so that citizens and investors here and around the world can remain confident that the United States will always meet its obligations,” Geithner said in a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid that was obtained by Reuters.  Read Full Story

Rejected By Apple, iPhone Developers Go Underground
08-08-2009  •  Wired

Apple is the exclusive gatekeeper to its iPhone App Store, able to reject apps at will " as it did July 28 with Google Voice. But some developers aren’t taking the rejection lying down: They’re turning instead to an unauthorized app store called Cydia, where forbidden wares continue to exist " and even earn developers some money.

That store is operated by Jay Freeman, more fondly known in the iPhone “Jailbreak” community as Saurik. Only five months old, his app store Cydia specializes in selling apps that Apple would reject or ban (or already has). To use Cydia or the apps available through it, customers need to jailbreak their phones " hack them to work around Apple-imposed restrictions " a process that Apple claims is illegal.

EXCLUSIVE: FBI Attempts to Block Edmonds Testimony in OH Election Case; Attorneys Say Effort Insufficient to Stop Her

The BRAD BLOG has obtained both the FBI's response to FBI translator-turned-whistleblower Sibel Edmonds' notice of her intention to give a deposition this Saturday in response to a subpoena she received in a case before the Ohio Elections Commission (OEC). We've also been given exclusive access to her attorneys' response in turn, which is to be officially released later this afternoon.

The FBI stated its objection to Edmonds' plans to testify in a two-page letter [PDF] on Thursday, sent to Edmonds' attorney Stephen Kohn, at the National Whistleblowers Legal Defense & Education Fund. Edmonds and her attorneys, however, in their own two-page letter [PDF], say the objections raised so far by the agency are not sufficient to block Edmonds from "truthfully answer[ing] questions while under oath pursuant to a lawful sub  Read Full Story

Tesla Says It Is Now Profitable, Ships 109 Roadsters In July
08-08-2009  •  techcrunch.com

Silicon Valley’s electric car company, Tesla Motors, says that it hit profitability in July. The private company reports that it made “approximately $1 million of earnings” on revenues of $20 million, and that it shipped 109 Roadsters, its $109,000 all-electric sports car. The revenues reflect GAAP accounting standards and are only for the month of July.

Founder and CEO Elon Musk predicted in June that the company would soon hit profitability at the end of a lengthy blog post dealing primarily with a lawsuit brought on by Tesla’s ousted co-founder Martin Eberhard. In June, Tesla was also awarded a $465 million loan from the Department of Energy, which will help it manufacture its more reasonably priced Modern S sedan.

The $20 million in revenues and $1 million in profits do not reflect any proceeds from that loan, the company tells us.

The Start Of The Second American Revolution?

White House Warns Critics: Nazi Talk Puts You On “Thin Ice”
08-08-2009  •  PrisonPlanet.com

The White House struck back hard on Friday against conservative pundits and town hall protesters who have compared the President to Hitler and his policies to Nazism, saying that the critics are “on thin ice” and should “take that temperature down a bit.”

Asked about the breakout of boisterous and occasionally violent protests at Democratic town hall events throughout the country, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs declared that the demonstrators were showing less civility and manners than his six-year-old child.

“Behave yourselves like your mom would probably tell you to do,” Gibbs said when asked what piece of advice he would give to the demonstrators.

But it wasn’t all fun and games for the Obama spokesman. Pressed on the analogies between Obama and Hitler that conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh made during Thursday’s program, Gibbs’ voice turned stern.

“I know the president feels strongly that we can discuss these issue  Read Full Story

A Zero-Emissions City in the Desert
08-08-2009  •  Technology Review
The construction is the start of a vast experiment, an attempt to create the world's first car-free, zero-carbon-dioxide-emissions, zero-waste city. Due to be completed in 2016, the city is the centerpiece of the Masdar Initiative, a $15 billion investment by the government of Abu Dhabi, which is part of the United Arab Emirates. The new development, being built on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi city, will run almost entirely on energy from the sun and will use just 20 percent as much power as a conventional city of similar size. Garbage will be sorted and recycled or used for compost; sewage will be processed into fuel. Concrete columns will lift the city seven meters off the ground, creating space underneath for a network of automated electric transports that will replace cars. Planners predict that the development will attract 1,500 clean-tech businesses, ranging from large international corporations to startups, and--eventually--some 50,000 residents.

Bringing Graphene to Market
08-08-2009  •  Technology Review

A startup company in Jessup, MD, hopes later this year to bring to market one of the first products based on the nanomaterial graphene. Vorbeck Materials is making conductive inks based on graphene that can be used to print RFID antennas and electrical contacts for flexible displays. The company, which is banking on the low cost of the graphene inks, has an agreement with the German chemical giant BASF and last month received $5.1 million in financing from private-investment firm Stoneham Partners.

Since it was first created in the lab in 2004, graphene has been hailed as a wonder material: the two-dimensional sheets of carbon atoms are the strongest material ever tested, and graphene's electrical properties make it a potential replacement for silicon in faster computer chips. Synthesizing pristine graphene of the quality needed to make transistors, though, remains a painstaking process that, as yet, can't be done on an industrial scale, though researchers are w

A More Efficient Spacecraft Engine
08-08-2009  NASA's new ion-propulsion system could be ready for launch as soon as 2013.

Ion propulsion works by electrically charging, or ionizing, a gas using power from solar panels and emitting the ionized gas to propel the spacecraft in the opposite direction. The concept was first developed over 50 years ago, and the first spacecraft to use the technology was Deep Space 1 (DS1) in 1998. Since then, one other spacecraft has used ion propulsion: the Dawn mission to the outer solar system, launched in 2007.

To build the new ion-propulsion system under NASA's Evolutionary Xenon Thruster (NEXT) program, engineers at NASA's Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, OH, modified and improved the design of the engines used for DS1 and Dawn. "We made it physically bigger, but lighter, reduced the system's complexity to extend its lifetime, and, overall, improved its efficiency," says Michael Patterson, the principal investigator on the project.

Something Is Rotten In The State Of Wall Street
08/07/09  •  Forbes
It doesn't seem fair, does it? The government saved Wall Street by backing troubled financial institutions with trillions of loans, investments and guarantees. It took a modest, non-usurious fee in buying the preferred stock of several troubled financial institutions and took warrants for common stock in them as well. This saved the banks so they could return to business as usual and get back to the business of overcompensating many of their employees who brought us to the precipice of disaster. Thanks to New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo--not Congress, not the White House--we have learned that Merrill Lynch, now a part of Bank of America ( BAC - news - people ), and Citigroup ( C - news - people ), a zombie still propped up by the government, both lost more than $27 billion in 2008, but paid $9 billion in executive bonuses last year. 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo Revealed
08-07-2009  •  Evan McCausland

If you were wondering just when Porsche would unveil a revamped 911 Turbo, your wait is over. The automaker revealed the new 2010 Turbo today, well in advance of its September premiere.

While the car receives a number of small visual tweaks first launched on the 2009 911, the biggest news is what lies underneath the hood. The new 911 Turbo ditches the 3.6-liter mill found in the current car, and moves to a direct-injection, twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six. Porsche says the new engine pumps out 500 hp (20 hp more than the current 911 Turbo), all while improving both fuel economy and CO2 emissions.

A six-speed manual transmission is standard equipment, but the hallmark of the latest 911 range--Porsche’s seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission--is available as an option. We’re happy to hear buyers can eschew Porsche’s standard PDK steering wheel for an optional wheel with simplified shift paddles (the right paddle triggers an upsh

Despite what some protesters said, “there will be no payment of taxpayer funds for abortion,” Dingell, 83, told the crowd. As Dingell opened the forum, Mike Sola of Milan interrupted the congressman as he pushed his son, Scott, in a wheelchair, to the podium. He said proposed changes wouldn’t help Scott and called Dingell a fraud. Even before the Romulus town hall began, opponents engaged backers. “You may be dead in five years!” shouted Val Butsicaris, 60, of Taylor. “They may euthanize you!” She referred to concerns of government rationing of care for elderly people.  Read Full Story

Media Forget Dissent Was Encouraged During Bush Years
08/072009  •  Newsbusters
As so-called journalists negatively depict town hall meeting protesters as an organized angry mob (or worse!), they seem to forget how throughout most of this decade while George W. Bush was president dissent was quite encouraged. As an example, try to guess who said this in 2003? I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration.  Read Full Story

Did GE Stifle Keith Olbermann?
08/07/2009  •  FAIR

The behind-the-scenes deal-making, though, still illustrates the corrosive effect on media of corporate ownership.  Read Full Story

A US Government Rescue for Commercial Real Estate?
08/07/2009  •  Emacs Stock Watch
The $3.5 tn commercial real estate market is eroding, defaults are doubling on loans for apartment buildings, office buildings, housing complexes, strip malls, hotels, hospitals, and a staggering amount of loans must be rolled over this year into refinancings, or else go bellyup. The problem now is, the US government, meaning taxpayers, may be called upon once again for even more bailout help for this struggling sector, beyond the $23.7 tn in gross exposures already in the bailout programs to date (gross exposures are an Armageddon scenario, although they do show what the government has committed, according to the inspector general for the Troubled Asset Relief Program, Neil Barofsky).  Read Full Story

United State Senate Declares: Chris Dodd May Accept Bribes from Subprime Lenders
08/07/09  •  CRIME & FEDERALISM
The Senate's deciding to clear Dodd comes just a couple of days after the SEC gave a sweet heart deal to Bank of America - which, according ot the SEC, had misled investors about a several-billion-dollar loss. The Senate's decision comes just weeks after the Department of Justice took less than 48 hours to arrest and beging criminally proceedings a Goldman Sachs employee for theft of trade secrets. Judges, are you paying attention? You are the only remaining protectors of individual rights. Congress and the Presidency has been purchsaed. Barack Obama accepted nearly $1 million in campaign contributions from Goldman Sachs. Larry Summers has accepted payments from Goldman Sachs and other Wall Street banks.  Read Full Story
