Up to $3, 800 Fine for Failure Get Health Insurance
09-08-2009
•
NYT
A top senator is calling for fines of up to $3,800 on families who fail to get medical insurance after a health care overhaul goes into effect.
The plan from Democratic Sen. Max Baucus of Montana would make health insurance mandatory, just like auto coverage. It would provide tax credits to help cover the cost for people making up to three times the federal poverty level. That's about $66,000 for a family of four, and $32,000 for an individual.
But those who still don't sign up would face hefty fines, starting at $750 a year for individuals and $1,500 for families. The maximum penalty on individuals would be $950.
Baucus is hoping his plan can win bipartisan support. A copy of his proposal was obtained by The Associated Press.

China, Bernanke, and the price of gold
09-08-2009
•
Telegraph
China has issued what amounts to the “Beijing Put” on gold. You can make a lot of money, but you really can’t lose.
I happened to see quite a bit of Cheng Siwei at the Ambrosetti Workshop, a gathering of politicians and global strategists at Lake Como, including a dinner at Villa d’Este last night at which he listened very attentively as a number of American guests tore President Obama’s economic and health policy to shreds.
Mr Cheng was until recently Vice-Chairman of the Communist Party’s Standing Committee, and is now a sort of economic ambassador for China around the world " a charming man, by the way, who left Hong Kong for mainland China in 1950 at the age of 16, as young idealist eager to serve the revolution. Sixty years later, he calls himself simply “a survivior”.
What he said about US monetary policy and gold " this bit on the record " would appear to validate the long-held belief of gold bugs that China has fundamentally lost confidence in the US dollar and is going to s

Gold rallies above $1,000 an ounce as dollar weakens
09-08-2009
•
Market Watch
Gold futures rose above $1,000 an ounce Tuesday, climbing to their highest level in nearly 18 months as a weaker dollar boosted the metal's investment appeal. Silver and copper also rallied. The thinly traded September contract rose as high as $1,006.90 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, the highest level for a nearby futures contract since March 18, 2008.The most active December contract recently gained $6.40, or 0.6%, to $1,003.10 an ounce.
Day Ahead: Gold Rushes Past $1,000Gold futures pushed through the key $1,000 per ounce level overnight but the reasons aren't necessarily encouraging. Kelly Evan reports on your day ahead. The London gold fixing, a global benchmark, rose to $1,000.75 Tuesday afternoon, also the highest level since March 18."The higher the price the higher the volatility, but this market is so concerned with inflation possibilities and dollar weakness that momentum is bringing more investors to the buy side," said G

International Flight to Gold ?
09-08-2009
•
Economic Policy Journal
Will the world run to the safety of gold as a form of international reserve currency, before the U.S. can force SDRs, its chosen alternative to the dollar, on the world? It might just be happening now.
A friend sends along this comment from Adrian Douglas:
I have recently described what is going on in the physical market to be the equivalent of a "run on the Bank of the Gold Cartel." There are many factors that are leading to that conclusion and here are just a few:
-- China is a confirmed large buyer of gold, along with Russia.

Fewer paying speed-camera tickets
09-08-2009
•
Arizona Republic
Officers sat outside Vontesmar's home and watched him
drive to work. "We watched him 4 different times put the monkey mask
on and put the giraffe-style mask on," Officer Dave Porter said. "Based
on surveillance, we were positive that Vontesmar was the driver."
Porter said that it would be up to justices of the peace to
determine what to do with Vontesmar's tickets, but the officer said
there is enough evidence to reissue the tickets in Vontesmar's name,
despite his claims that he was not the driver.

HR 1388 “GIVE” Act Could Force Mandatory Service Requirement on All Young Americans
09-08-2009
•
Jennifer Lance
Passed by the House of Representatives with a 321-105 margin, HR 1388: the Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act,
dubbed the “GIVE” act, would require the US government to develop a
plan to implement a “mandatory service requirement for all able young
people”.
Already males ages 18 through 25 living in the U.S. register with Selective Service
to keep records in the event Congress and the President authorize a
draft. What is the purpose of the service requirement under the GIVE
act?
The purpose of the GIVE act is to “To reauthorize and reform the national service laws”, specifically the National and Community Service Act of 1990. HR 1388 reads:
HR 1388 specifically targets Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA)
and the National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) which Congress expects
will reach 250,000 participants by 2014. From school-based service
learning programs to focusing on severely economically depressed
communities

Alert: China to Issue Renminbi Bonds Internationally
09-08-2009
•
Economic Policy Journal/Financial Times
It's only a first step but, this is big. A new player has entered the ring to compete against the dollar and Treasury securities.China’s finance ministry said China will issue Rmb6bn ($879m) of bonds in Hong Kong on September 28, in a move to “improve the international status” of the currency and to help mainland companies raise funds in the offshore bond market, according to FT. Thank you Mr. Wenzel for keeping us informed! http://www.economicpolicyjournal.com/2009/09/alert-china-to-issue-renminbi-bonds.html

biggest threat confronting our nation today. Its clearly totally in our
faces with a massive media barrage to try to condition us all to take
it.

Sibel Edmonds' Deposition Disclosures: Congressional Bribery, Blackmail, and Espionage
09-08-2009
•
BradBlog.com
Breaking down the formerly-gagged FBI whistleblower's sworn testimony...
It has now been over a week since the video tape and transcript from
the remarkable 8/8/09 deposition of former FBI
translator-turned-whistleblower Sibel Edmonds was publicly released.
Previously, the Bush Administration invoked the so-called "state
secrets privilege" in order to gag Edmonds, in attempting to keep such
information from becoming public.
The under-oath, detailed allegations include bribery, blackmail,
espionage and infiltration of the U.S. government of, and by current
and former members of the U.S. Congress, high-ranking State and Defense
Department officials and agents of the government of Turkey. The broad
criminal conspiracy is said to have resulted in, among other things,
the sale of nuclear weapons technology to black market interests
including Pakistan, Iran, North Korea, Libya and others.
Even as many of these allegations had been previousl

Man held after kissing daughter
09-08-2009
•
BBC
The Italian tourist, a 48-year-old businessman, was arrested on 2
September in the coastal city of Fortaleza, in the north-east of
Brazil, where he was on holiday with his wife and daughter.
He
was reported to the police by a Brazilian couple who claimed he had
been touching a young girl inappropriately and had kissed her on the
mouth while they were both at a swimming pool close to the beach in
full view of other tourists.
It appears the couple who made the allegations did not know that the man was with his daughter.

INTERNET CLOSED in Australia for an hour (except for Government sites)

Today, we up against impending control by CIA, FEMA, CDC, WHO, UN
NATO NWO directing the Australian Government and other governments to
take autocratic control over the Internet.
In April 2009,
Senators John Rockefeller (D-W. Va.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine)
introduced a bill to establish the Office of the National Cybersecurity
Advisor"an arm of the executive branch that would have vast power to
monitor and control Internet traffic to protect against threats to
critical cyber infrastructure. The Cybersecurity Act of 2009 (PDF) gave
the president the ability to declare a cybersecurity emergency and shut
down or limit Internet traffic in any critical information network in
the interest of national security. The bill did not define a critical
information network or a cybersecurity emergency. That definition was
left to the President, and it is just a matter of his proclamation
and/or your Country's Prime-Minister proclamation to bring in total
control accord

Center for American Progress

•
SourceWatch
The Center for American Progress was begun in 2003 with funding from philanthropists Herbert M. Sandler and Marion O. Sandler[1] It is a Washington, DC-based liberal think tank created and led by President and Chief Executive Officer John D. Podesta, the head of Barack Obama's presidential transition team after the 2008 election and former Chief of Staff for President Bill Clinton.
In 2009 CAP's Progressive Media project emerged as a major communications war room on behalf of Obama's domestic and foreign policy agenda and CAP became a strong advocate for escalation in Afghanistan. Progressive Media is run through the Center for American Project Action Fund, the more political 501(c)4 arm of CAP. It coordindates closely with the Common Purpose Project, an effort to create message discipline among the pro-Obama organizations, with a direct tie to the White House.

Listening to a Liar
09-07-2009
•
Town Hall
If you go by words, you can be led into anything.
No doubt millions of people will be listening to the words of President Barack Obama Wednesday night when he makes a televised address to a joint session of Congress on his medical care plans. But, if they think that the words he says are what matters, they can be led into something much worse than being swindled out of their money. One plain fact should outweigh all the words of Barack Obama and all the impressive trappings of the setting in which he says them: He tried to rush Congress into passing a massive government takeover of the nation's medical care before the August recess-- for a program that would not take effect until 2013!Whatever President Obama is, he is not stupid. If the urgency to pass the medical care legislation was to deal with a problem immediately, then why postpone the date when the legislation goes into effect for years-- more specifically, until the year after the next Presidential election?

Redflex (and DPS') Flowchart of FRAUD
09/07/2009
•
CameraFRAUD
AZ drivers punished more heavily than those from Canada or Mexico... An internal document used as a reference guide by Redflex employees and obtained by CameraFRAUD provides new insights into the company’s various automated ticketing schemes throughout Arizona.
The document, titled “Procedural Manual” and dated April of 2009, includes a visual flow-chart for determining whether or not a “ticket” (notice of violation) should be issued.
Guesswork appears to be the rule of thumb when it comes to sending out a so-called “notice of violation,” even in situations where officials have said that a notice wouldn’t be mailed:
* Gender mismatch (Redflex photo vs. MVD). Issue ticket? Yes.

Economic 9-11: Did Lehman Brothers Fall or Was It Pushed?
09-07-2009
•
Huffington Post
If Lehman was indeed sacrificed, who pushed it and to what end? Some critics point to Henry Paulson and his cronies at Goldman Sachs, Lehman's arch rival. Goldman certainly came out on top after Lehman's demise, but there were other possibilities as well, involving more global players. The month after Lehman collapsed, Gordon Brown and the EU leaders called for using the financial crisis as an opportunity to radically enhance the regulatory power of global institutions. Brown spoke of "a new global financial order," echoing the "new world order" referred to by globalist banker David Rockefeller when he said in 1994We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the new world order.Richard Haas, President of the U.S. Council on Foreign Relations, wrote in 2006:
Globalisation . . . implies that sovereignty is not only becoming weaker in reality, but that it needs to become weaker.
