Mapping the spread of protests around the world from August to mid-October including the explosion of Occupy Wall Street solidarity events.

We used data from the Recorded Future index that includes temporal tagging of events and entities extracted from unstructured text (news articles, blog posts, etc). This allows us to identify event occurrences (in this case, protests) and the locations (in addition to other related entities including people, organizations, etc).
