NYT Irresponsibly Accuses WikiLeaks of Aiding Russia

by Stephen Lendman

The Times is America's lead instrument of state propaganda, especially on geopolitical issues, publishing false and misleading information, suppressing hard truths everyone needs to know.

Whistleblower individuals and groups like WikiLeaks provide a valued public service by exposing government wrongdoing - rife in America like nowhere else, its imperial agenda threatening world peace and humanity's survival.

Julian Assange is relatively (though not entirely) safe while remaining in Ecuador's London embassy, given asylum by its government four years ago.

Washington wants him eliminated, at least extradited, intending harsh treatment amounting to torture like against Chelsea Manning, a heroic figure imprisoned longterm for exposing US war crimes.

Edward Snowden was luckier, given residency rights in Russia, able to speak freely and travel unobstructed anywhere within its borders. Leaving risks arrest abroad and extradition to America for connecting the dots on NSA Big Brother watching everyone.

Instead of supporting and praising anti-imperial activists, The Times endorses endless US wars, refusing to expose them as naked aggression against nonbelligerent states, ignoring mass slaughter and destruction in one country after another.

The self-styled newspaper of record is both laughing stock and national disgrace, mocking what journalism is supposed to be, best found only through alternative sources, nowhere through mainstream ones - dedicated to lying, not truth-telling.

An irresponsible August 31 Times article said WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange benefits Russia by "reveal(ing) the West's secrets" - failing to explain they're high crimes ranging from Hillary's wrongdoing to US naked aggression, the job noted former investigative journalists like IF Stone, Lincoln Steffens, George Seldes and others like them used to do.

The Times mocked Assange's "vision of America as superbully." It repeated its longstanding misinformation and Big Lies about Russia and Vladimir Putin.

It irresponsibly blasted RT International (erroneously called Russia Today, its former name), calling it "English-language propaganda."

It scorns truth-tellers - criticizing Assange for not publishing the same type propaganda rubbish it's infamous for. It blasted his recent DNC email disclosures, showing primary election rigging for Hillary.

It's furious about his announced new information coming, exposing more of her wrongdoing, intending to publish it before November's presidential election.

Times management, editors, columnists and contributors one-sidedly support her campaign, functioning as her press agent, ignoring her high crimes.

It repeated the Big Lie about Russian responsibility for hacking DNC material, despite no corroborating evidence.

It deplorably asked if "WikiLeaks (is) a laundering machine for compromising material gathered by Russian spies…and more broadly, what precisely is the relationship between Mr. Assange and Mr. Putin's Kremlin?"

It irresponsibly accused Russia of interfering in this year's US presidential election. Not a shred of evidence suggests it - in contrast to Washington meddling in the internal affairs of all other countries, including their elections.

The Times and other media scoundrels provide gatekeeping services for US imperial and monied interests - considering any individual or groups opposing them enemies of the state.

Whistleblowers exposing government wrongdoing are national heroes - not in America or according to Times editors and management.
