Russia Represents the Threat of a Good Example

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Russia and America are world's apart on major issues mattering most. Differences between both countries are stark.

Vladimir Putin is arguably the world's preeminent leader. Trump and neocons infesting Washington are despised by freedom-loving people everywhere.

Putin deplores war. He's a world class peace champion, favoring mutual cooperation among all nations, advocating multi-world polarity, opposing US imperial madness.

America wages endless wars of aggression, targeting sovereign independent states it doesn't control, seeking unchallenged global dominance, no matter the human cost - defiling democratic values and rule of law principles, operating solely by its own.

Putin and Trump are polar opposites. Russia's leader is forthright, saying what he means and meaning what he says.

Trump and other US leaders are serial liars, ruthless belligerents, waging war on humanity at home and abroad.

Millions of corpses attest to America's barbarism, unprecedented in world history, causing more harm to more people over a longer duration than any other nation.

The Russian Federation never launched aggression against another country. America does it all the time, waging endless wars against one country after another, currently in multiple theaters - likely more planned.

Lunatic fringe John McCain gives neocon extremism a bad name. His June 29 USA Today op-ed featured beginning-to-end disinformation, deception and Big Lies.

McCain: Vladimir Putin's Russia is on the offensive against Western democracy…(He) attacked America's 2016, attempted to interfere in France's 2017 election, and is expected to do the same in German and other future European elections."

Fact: America and other Western nations are plutocracies, not democracies. Ukraine is a US-orchestrated, coup d'etat established, Nazi-infested, fascist dictatorship in Europe's heartland.

Fact: Not a shred of evidence suggests Russia interfered in foreign elections - not America's, Europe's or anywhere else anytime.

McCain: "…Russian intelligence operatives plotted to overthrow the democratically elected government of Montenegro and murder its prime minister" - claiming Moscow views its EU and NATO membership threatening.

Fact: Even for extremist McCain, this rant exceeds the absurd. Tiny Montenegro's population is less than a million.

Fact: Its military size and strength are minuscule, active duty personnel numbering less than 2,000. It couldn't win the battle of Chicago if waged.

Fact: Its NATO membership has no military significance. If accepted, its EU membership would be of no political or economic importance. It's a drop in the European ocean.

Fact: The notion of Russia plotting the "murder of its prime minister" is pure hateful lunacy. It's hard imagining why anyone takes McCain seriously, especially his Senate colleagues.

McCain: "…Putin will do whatever it takes to achieve his ambition to restore the Russian empire."

Fact: Putin is a non-belligerent, America under either right wing of its duopoly governance a serial aggressor.

McCain concocted a pure fiction plot, claiming "armed men, recruited by Russian GRU agents and wearing police uniforms (planned to) ambush and kill members of Montenegro's Special Anti-Terrorist Unit to prevent them from interfering with the coup."

So-called plotters would storm parliament, usurp control and form a new government, McCain ranted.

No coup plot existed, no Russian-orchestrated plans to storm parliament and usurp control, no plan to kill the prime minister.

McCain's scenario was smoke and mirrors rubbish, willful deception, anti-Russia hate-mongering.

No responsible editor would touch this fake news story. To its shame, USA Today featured it, making the publication complicit with McCain's Big Lie.

McCain: Putin aims "to weaken the United States, to destabilize Europe, to break the NATO alliance, to undermine confidence in Western values, and to erode any and all resistance to his dangerous view of the world."

Fact: If all countries had leaders like Putin, peace and stability would replace endless wars of aggression worldwide - waged by America and its rogue allies.

Humanity could exhale for the first time since the dawn of the nuclear age - a sword of Damocles threatening mass extinction.
