ISIS Operating from US-Controlled Southern Syrian Territory

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

ISIS exists because of support provided by Washington, NATO, Israel and their rogue regional allies.

Russia's Defense Ministry spokesman General Igor Konashenkov blasted what he called a southern Syria "black hole" on the country's border with Jordan, thousands of internally displaced Syrians held hostage as "human shield(s)" protecting ISIS fighters, letting them carry out terrorist attacks and sabotage, saying:

"The Pentagon's representatives have repeatedly stated that instructors from the US, the UK and Norway staying there under the cover of tactical aviation and multiple-launch rocket systems are training New Syrian Army militants."

"However, in actual fact, (the illegal US) al-Tanf (base) has turned into a 100-kilometer 'black hole' on the Syrian-Jordanian state border."

"Instead of the New Syrian Army, mobile ISIL groups, like a jack in the box, carry out sabotage and terrorist attacks against Syrian troops and civilians from there."

The Pentagon claimed its al-Tanf base was established last April to combat ISIS - a bald-faced lie. The Rukban refugee camp, accommodating over 60,000 displaced Syrians, is located in a so-called "safe zone" near the base.

They're held hostage serving America's agenda. "(N)o reports (exist) of a single (US) operation against Islamic State during the six months of (the base's) existence," Konashenkov explained.

Washington blocks humanitarian convoys from reaching camp refugees. US forces operate in ISIS-controlled areas, aiding its fighters, not combating them, as falsely claimed.

Syrian forces have been repeatedly attacked by ISIS from areas around the al-Tanf base, America's presence aiding their fighters.

Separately, Syrian forces reached the outskirts of ISIS-controlled Al-Mayadeen, its de facto capital in Deir Ezzor governorate since Raqqa is effectively lost. America redeployed its fighters to the area.

Liberating the city will be a major blow to the terrorist group. It won't stop dark forces in Washington from continuing its aggression on sovereign Syrian independence.
