Conspiring Against Iran

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

US, Israeli, Saudi hostility toward Iran risks war on the country - madness if launched, yet possible given extreme rage by these countries to eliminate a key regional rival state.

On Tuesday, ultranationalist Israeli defense minister Avigdor Lieberman said Israel won't permit Iran to establish a military presence in Syria.

Nor will Trump and Saudi crown prince Muhammad bin Sultan. On November 28, Syrian opposition leaders will meet in Riyadh - plotting their next move against Assad.

US-launched aggression is far from over. Things could heat up if Washington, Israel, and Riyadh intend escalated hostilities to try ousting Assad.

Earlier tactics failed. Maybe new ones are being planned. Nothing is ever simple in the Middle East, a cauldron of endless wars, related violence and instability - America's presence, Israel and their rogue allies the root cause.

Belligerent Israeli remarks are worrisome. Lieberman recklessly said "(w)e simply will not allow Shiite and Iranian entrenchment in Syria."

"And we will not allow all of Syria to become a forward operating base against the state of Israel. Whoever doesn't understand that should understand that." Israel intends "maintaining total freedom of operation" in Syria.

Separately on Tuesday in an address to the Jewish Federation of North America's General Assembly in Los Angeles via teleconference, Netanyahu vowed to prevent Iran from using Syria "as a base from which to destroy Israel" - invoking the long ago discredited canard.

Iran never affirmed or suggested an intention to destroy Israel. The Big Lie persists, Israeli officials using it to justify unjustifiable actions.

"(I)f we have to, we'll stand alone" against Iran," Netanyahu roared. Separately, he said "Israel will act in Syria, including in southern Syria, according to our understanding and according to our security needs."

Likudnik minister Tzachi Hanegbi added Israel "set red lines and will stand firm on this." Sergey Lavrov said Russian and Iranian military forces in Syria are "legitimate - at the invitation of the lawful government."

They won't be removed to accommodate Israel, Washington, the Saudis or any nations hostile to Syrian sovereignty.

In a September letter, Assad said "(t)he Syrian Arab Republic and the Islamic Republic of Iran are continuing the fight against oppression and aggression and eliminating the threats of terrorism."

Russian, Iranian and Hezbollah forces operate in Syria legally. America is an illegal hostile invader - supporting ISIS and other terrorist groups combatted by Syria and its valued allies.

On Tuesday, Moon of Alabama discussed a leaked Saudi memorandum, revealing a sinister plot "to give up Palestine for war on Iran" - including the right of return, East Jerusalem as its capital and self-determination.

The Saudis are negotiating secretly with Israel, the Trump administration involved.

A US/Israeli/Saudi axis of evil is Iran's most serious threat - regime change the longstanding objective of these countries.

Is war on the Islamic Republic likely? If launched, will Iran request Russian intervention?

Will Moscow aid its ally as it did in Syria? If so, will global war follow, possibly going nuclear?
