Venezuelan Economist Calls for Military Intervention in the Country

Ricardo Hausmann is a right-wing extremist, a supporter of repressive governance. 

In 1992-93, he served as widely despised Venezuelan President Carlos Andres Perez's Minister of Planning and Presidential Office of Coordination and Planning head.

From February 27 - March 1989, a popular uprising confronted his repressive neoliberal regime.

Security forces killed hundreds. Some estimates said thousands. Many others were injured. Martial law was imposed. Perez authorized live ammunition against protesters.

Protests followed so-called economic reforms. IMF diktats were imposed. Neoliberal harshness punished ordinary Venezuelans.

After calling the IMF "a neutron bomb that only kills people," he bowed to Washington Consensus demands.

Hausmann was part of Perez's ruthless regime, involved in force-feeding neoliberal harshness.

He's now Harvard's JFK School of Government Center for International Development director. He teaches his extremist notion of economic development. 

Students would be wise to avoid his classes, steeped in right-wing ideology, hugely against Bolivarian social justice.

On January 2, his article titled "D-Day Venezuela" called for foreign military intervention, urging the international community to act - ignoring US-orchestrated economic and political war on the Nicolas Maduro-led government, wanting fascist tyranny replacing Bolivarian social justice.

He lied claiming Maduro aims "to entrench…political control (instead of) taking steps to end" dire economic conditions - imposed by Washington, he failed to explain.

He lied calling the constitutionally authorized, democratically elected National Constituent Assemby "unconstitutional."

He lied saying parliamentary, regional and local elections were "stolen." Venezuela's democratic electoral process shames America's sham system - a one-party state with two right wings, a plutocracy, not a democracy.

He lied calling Maduro's government "a military dictatorship." He lied saying the nation's Supreme Court justices were "unconstitutionally appointed."

He lied claiming excessive force was used to suppress street protests - CIA-orchestrated, trying to topple the government, responsible for lethal shootings, other violence and turmoil.

He lied calling conditions in Venezuela "a crime against humanity that must be stopped on moral grounds."

The problem lies in Washington, not Caracas, he failed to explain - a servant of imperial lawlessness, neoliberal harshness and fascist repression - an anti-progressive, anti-democrat. 

He lamented the fact that (illegally imposed) US sanctions haven't worked, failing to bring down Maduro's government.

"This leaves us with an international military intervention," he roared - advocating naked aggression to return Venezuela to its bad old days, serving privileged interests exclusively.

His notion of "salvation" is subjugation, tyranny, and impoverishment under neoliberal harshness.

He's part of the problem, not the solution.
