The NYT Calls US-Led Aggression in Syria Civil War

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

The self-styled newspaper of record never met a bloody US war of aggression against nations threatening no one it didn't wholeheartedly endorse - backing what demands denunciation.

There's nothing remotely civil about war in Syria, naked aggression launched by Obama, escalated by Trump, using ISIS and other jihadists as proxy foot soldiers.

Endless conflict rages in its 8th year, with no prospect for resolution any time soon. It's supported by the US, NATO's killing machine, Ziofascists running Israel, their imperial partners, terrorist foot soldiers, the NYT and other media scoundrels.

They pretend US and allied forces in Syria (illegally) are combating the scourge of ISIS they support.

The Times turned truth on its head, claiming the Trump regime, Britain, and France terror-bombed Syrian targets last April "to punish Mr. Assad for using chemical weapons (along with) clinging to a mostly stalled peace process that was begun under President Barack Obama."

Fact: Republican and undemocratic Dem hardliners oppose peace they pretend to support.

Fact: No evidence proves Syrian forces ever used CWs anytime during years of war - a tactic used numerous times by ISIS and other US-supported jihadists.

Attacking Syria's T-4 airbase last April, killing and wounding large numbers of government forces, followed a fake CW incident in Douma never staged. US and/or Israeli warplanes were involved.

According to Syrian Arab Red Crescent Dr. Seif Aldin Hobia and other organization medical staff at the time, no evidence suggests use of CWs in Douma. Reports suggesting otherwise were bald-faced lies.

Lebanon's al-Mayadeen television reported an Israeli reconnaissance plane overflying Syria's T-4 airbase when the attack occurred.

Missiles also may have been fired from the Mediterranean Sea through Lebanese airspace toward their target – by US and/or Israeli warships.

The Times and other media scoundrels falsely blamed Syrian forces for what they had nothing to do with, failing to condemn US and/or Israeli aggression at the time.

The Times: "The Trump administration continues to call for a Geneva-based peace process between Mr. Assad's government and moderate opposition leaders, brokered by Staffan de Mistura, a United Nations envoy."

Fact: The so-called Geneva process is all about unacceptable regime change. Russian sponsored Astana and Sochi are the only legitimate peace talks Washington boycotts.

Fact: Russia and Iran alone have gone all-out to resolve years of conflict diplomatically. The US, NATO, and Turkey pretend to support a process they oppose - why war continues raging endlessly.

They want Assad toppled, pro-Western puppet rule replacing him - supported by the Times and other media scoundrels, allies of naked aggression, conquest, colonization of nations, looting their resources, and exploiting their people.

Liberating Idlib from US-supported cutthroat killer jihadists is anathema to the Times, urging the Trump regime go all-out to prevent it, along with attacking government forces, opposing their liberating campaign.

The Times: Iran "brought thousands of Shiite militiamen from Lebanon, Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere to bolster" Syrian forces.

Fact: Iranian military advisors alone are involved in the conflict, not combat troops. What the Times called "Shiite militiamen" are voluntary Hezbollah fighters from Lebanon, not other countries.

The Times: Iranian and Hezbollah involvement in Syria "are viewed both by the Trump (and Netanyahu regimes) as a serious threat to regional stability."

Fact: Both regimes and their imperial allies alone threaten Syria, the region, and world peace.

Fact: Syria, Iran, Hezbollah and Russia are committed to defeat the scourge of US-supported terrorism. They alone want diplomatic conflict resolution - opposed by Washington, Israel, and their imperial partners.

As long as the Trump regime wants endless war without resolution, US-led naked aggression in Syria won't end.
