NYT Op-Ed Calls Russia a Filling Station Masquerading as a State

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

US imperial press agent NYT, masquerading as a broadsheet, finds new ways to disgrace itself.

No respectable editors would touch the rubbish featured in its daily Times editions — state-approved propaganda, masquerading as news fit to print.

Irresponsible Russia bashing again reared its ugly head in an unacceptable right-wing op-ed, demeaning its ruling authorities, failing to praise their anti-war, multi-world polarity agenda — polar opposite US war on humanity the Times cheerleads.

Russia is the world's leading super-power, its advanced weapons exceeding the best in the West.

The Times falsely claimed otherwise, saying "Russia is not a superpower (sic)," adding:

"In the 1990s…Russia (was) on its back," failing to explain that US puppet Boris Yeltsin abandoned the country's sovereign rights to Western interests and corrupt oligarchs, devastating ordinary people — a system Putin changed when succeeded him as president.

The Times: "(F)rom the early 2010s, the Kremlin started charting a course that was clearly at odds with its earlier policies of Western integration."

Reality is polar opposite. Moscow's ruling authorities seek cooperative relations with the West and other countries worldwide.

To a fault, they fail to recognize the futility of seeking normalized relations with the US, its bipartisan hardliners wanting the Russian Federation transformed into a vassal state, their arrogance and rage for dominance risking nuclear war to get their way.

No "Russian military intervention (occurred) in Ukraine in 2014," as the Times falsely claimed, blasting the official fabricated narrative time and again.

No "takeover of Crimea" occurred — another official narrative/Times repeated Big Lie, along with countless others about Russia and other sovereign independent countries on the US target list for regime change.

Russia's September 2015 "intervention in Syria" at the behest of Damascus was and remains all about combatting the scourge of ISIS and likeminded terrorists the US created and supports — a cold hard truth suppressed in Times propaganda reports.

Russia indeed is "a player" in the Middle East and other parts of the world by dealing with other nations cooperatively — polar opposite US hegemonic aims to control and exploit them, reality ignored by the Times.

The broadsheet slammed Putin's support for Venezuela's Maduro, a democratically elected and reelected leader the Times wants replaced with pro-Western puppet rule.

It support the same imperial agenda against on Iran, Syria, Cuba, Nicaragua, North Korea, and other sovereign states the US doesn't control.

The Times turned reality on its head, falsely claiming "Russia is…punching above its weight," ignoring its rising power, influence, and status on the world stage, the US a declining power, its endless hot wars and by other means making more enemies than friends.

Russia is a force for world peace, stability, mutual cooperation among nations, and multi-world polarity to be reckoned with — developing the nation's political, military, economic, and financial strengths at a small fraction of what the US pours down a black hole of waste, fraud and abuse.

It's why Russia is rising while the US is a declining power, notably post-9/11.

It's plagued by the same dynamic that doomed other empires in history, declining because of its imperial arrogance, its endless hot wars and by other means on invented enemies, and unwillingness to change.

The Times and other establishment media pretend it's not so — supporting the US imperial scourge instead of denouncing it.
