State Department Report on Terrorism Omits its Leading Proliferator USA

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Far and away, the US is the world's leading proliferator of terrorism — its longtime policy against nations it doesn't control, part of its permanent war by hot and other means strategy.

Annually the State Department publishes a country report on terrorism.

It's largely an exercise in state-sponsored propaganda, especially targeting sovereign independent nations threatening no one.

Straightaway, its latest report defied reality, claiming "(i)n 2019, the United States and our partners made major strides to defeat and degrade international terrorist organizations (sic)."

Notably citing ISIS, left unexplained is US support for the jihadist group it created and continues using as proxy fighters where they're deployed — in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and elsewhere.

State-terror is longstanding US policy — directly and through proxies, part of its imperial strategy at the expense of world peace, stability, and the rule of law, notions it abhors.

China is a prime target in the latest State Department report.

Ignoring US war on the country by other means, including by illegal sanctions and orchestrated violence in Hong Kong, the report falsely blamed Beijing for US high crimes committed against the country.

It falsely accused Chinese authorities of repression in Xinjiang. It lied blaming them for "terrorism-related incidents" against its citizens abroad.

It falsely claimed Beijing operates virtual concentration camps — a US specialty with its global network of torture prisons filled with invented enemies.

It falsely claims Beijing "actively promotes a repressive approach to counterterrorism."

The report notably featured Big Lies about Hong Kong.

Calling US supported hooligans in the city "pro-democracy and human rights protestors," the report falsely denounced Beijing for describing their unacceptable actions as "terrorism."

The city is sovereign Chinese territory. International law prohibits nations from interfering in the internal affairs of other states — what the US does worldwide, operating extrajudicially, falsely blaming other nations for high crimes it commits against them.

Russia is another prime target in the State Department report. A litany of bald-faced Big Lies followed.

"Russia increasingly used its counterterrorism and anti-extremism legislation against the political opposition, independent media, and certain religious organizations, including Jehovah's Witnesses, to criminalize the exercise of freedoms of religion or belief, expression, and association," it falsely claimed.

The US is hostile to Russia's sovereign independence, its peace and stability agenda, its foiling of the Obama and Trump regime's imperial aims in Syria, its concern about growing Russian Federation prominence on the world stage at the expense of US imperial aims, and its super-weapons that exceed the Pentagon's best.

Among major powers, Russia is the leading proponent of world peace, stability, security, and the rule of law — polar opposite how the US operates.

The State Department report falsely called North Korea, Syria and Iran "state sponsors of terrorism" — what applies to the US most of all, clearly not these nonbelligerent countries, threatening no others worldwide.

Throughout its post-WW II history, North Korea never attacked another nation, threatening none now.

Yet the State Department falsely accused its ruling authorities of "repeatedly provid(ing) support for acts of international terrorism" — how the US operates worldwide, not Pyongyang.

Syria is falsely accused of providing "political and military support to various terrorist groups" — citing Hezbollah, a legitimate part of the Lebanese government, Palestinian freedom fighters Hamas and similar groups, along with nonbelligerent Iran. More on the Islamic Republic below.

The US created ISIS, al-Qaeda, its al-Nusra offshoot and likeminded terrorist groups.

Yet the State Department report defied reality, falsely accusing Syria's Bashar al-Assad of "permissive(ness)" toward these jihadists, what government forces are combatting, adding:

"The Syrian government's awareness and encouragement for many years of terrorists' transit through Syria to Iraq for the purpose of fighting US forces before 2012 is well documented (sic)."

No such documentation exists! How could it. The US supports these terrorist groups.

Syria, Iran, Russia, China, and other nations for peace and stability oppose them.

The State Department report maintained the myth that US operations aim to eliminate the scourge of ISIS that Washington created and supports.

Iran hasn't attacked another in centuries, threatening none now.

Yet for decades, the US falsely labeled the Islamic Republic as a "state sponsor of terrorism" — what applies overwhelmingly to the US, clearly not to Tehran.

Its ruling authorities pursue cooperative relations with their counterparts abroad.

Iran is the region's leading proponent of peace and stability, the leading opponent of state-sponsored terrorism and nuclear weapons it wants eliminated everywhere before they eliminate us.

The State Department's report on Iran included a laundry list of long ago debunked Big Lies.

If the world community of nations were governed like countries on the US target list for regime change, a new era of world peace and stability would be possible.

US rage for dominating other nations by brute force and other hostile means makes this goal unattainable.
