UNHCR's War on Venezuelan Democracy

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet supports US-led Western war on Bolivarian Venezuela's social democracy.

She follows in the footsteps of her predecessor, Jordanian royal family member Zeid Raad Al Hussein.

Defying reality in support of Washington's imperial project, he falsely accused President Nicolas Maduro of "widespread and systematic use of excessive force and arbitrary detentions against demonstrators in Venezuela (sic)."

He lied citing "patterns of other human rights violations, including violent house raids, torture and ill-treatment of those detained in connection with the protests (sic)."

His falsified remarks were based on rubbish supplied him by anti-Bolivarian extremists.

Their talking points were straight from their CIA, NED, and USAID handlers, orchestrating their violence and vandalism, feeding them propaganda to vilify democracy the way it should be everywhere.

Bachelet follows the same US orchestrated anti-Bolivarian disinformation campaign, her marching orders from Washington, serving Western interests her mandate.

After visiting Venezuela last year by invitation from its legitimate government, she falsely accused its officials of destabilizing the country and region.

Her talking points came straight from the disloyal opposition and Trump regime.

Defying reality, she falsely accused Maduro's government of "profoundly erod(ing)" the rule of law, a shameful perversion of reality.

Claiming "(t)he exercise of freedom of opinion, expression, association and assembly, and the right to participate in public life, entail a risk of reprisals and repression" was a bald-faced Big Lie she knew, yet claimed it anyway in deference to her imperial handlers.

Her credibility too shattered to repair, she was at it again this week.

On July 15, she falsely claimed Maduro's government is doing nothing to halt criminal gangs from exploiting Venezuelan workers and committing "high levels of violence…in the country's Arco Minero del Orinoco region."

Bachelet: "Despite the considerable presence of security and military forces in the region, and the efforts undertaken to address criminal activity, the authorities have failed to investigate and prosecute human rights violations, and abuses and crimes linked to mining (sic)" — providing no evidence of government wrongdoing.

Without it, claims are baseless.

Separately, her report slammed Venezuela's judicial system unfairly, falsely calling its "independence…undermined by the insecurity of tenure of judges and prosecutors (sic)," claiming as well:

"the lack of transparency in the process of designation (sic),"

"precarious working conditions; and political interference (sic)," adding:

"Decisions of the Supreme Court related to the opposition-controlled National Assembly have consistently given rise to concerns about political considerations prevailing over legal determinations (sic)."

Again no corroborating evidence was cited because there's nothing independently verified to cite, but there's more:

Much like earlier US scripted talking points, she falsely claimed Venezuela's judiciary lacks accountability, "especially…in cases of killings in the context of protests and during security operations, as well as allegations of torture and ill-treatment and gender-based violence (sic)."

Her accusations read like what goes on in US, UK, and Israeli torture prisons, along with how their judiciary systems operate.

Guilt by accusation is their standard, their prisons filled with thousands for political reasons, notably three-times imprisoned and freed Chelsea Manning in the US and Julian Assange in Britain for possible extradition to the US for the high crime of truth-telling journalism.

In Israel, being Palestinian is reason enough for arrest and imprisonment under brutally harsh conditions that amount to torture by other means.

Bachelet and her predecessors target US/Western/Israeli enemies, serving their imperial project, ignoring their high crimes of war and against humanity, their use of chemical, biological and radiological weapons, their other human and civil rights abuses.

On issues related to Venezuela, she ignored US war on their 29 million people, its grand theft of Bolivarian assets — tens of billions of dollars to prevent its economy from functioning normally.

Like the US, its Western partners and Israel operates, she blames victims for high crimes committed against them — notably by both wings of the US war party.
