Promoting Dirty Business as Usual Kamala Harris

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

America's political system tolerates no aspirants for president, vice president, and key congressional posts who aren't pro-war, pro-corporate empowerment, anti-peace, equity, and justice for all.

Trump/Pence and Biden/Harris are considered safe because they oppose what just societies cherish in deference to wealth and power interests they serve exclusively.

The NYT cheerled Biden's choice of Harris in an array of reports and commentaries — ignoring her dark side, no pun intended.

Her paternal roots are Jamaican, her mother an East Indian-American. She's the first Black woman chosen on a US presidential ticket.

In its lead August 12 edition report, the Times boldly headlined: "Kamala Harris Is Biden's Choice for Vice President."

Falsely calling her "a prominent advocate of racial justice (sic)…a pragmatic moderate (sic), (and supporter) of left-wing policy proposals (sic)," the Times quoted one of her many false statements, saying:

"Joe Biden can unify the American people because he's spent his life fighting for us (sic)."

His political record since the 1970s is polar opposite, an establishment figure contemptuous of peace, equity and justice — why he's the presumptive Dem standard bearer.

The same goes for Harris, supporting privilege over the public welfare and the rule of law throughout her public life.

It's why Dem party bosses chose her as Biden's running mate.

No progressives need apply for the ticket of either wing of the one-party state — nor for any key congressional posts.

They're reserved for dirty business as usual hardliners, serving privileged interests exclusively at the expense of ordinary people everywhere.

Sounding like her press agent, the Times called Harris "a safe and energizing running-mate (sic)…a political fighter (displaying) electoral fearlessness (sic)."

A year ago, she falsely claimed concern about "issues that wake people up in the middle of the night (sic)."

Her prosecutorial and political record show otherwise. Despite her Jamaican and East Indian roots, she brings nothing to the table on racial justice, nothing on police misconduct, nothing on other issues mattering most to most people.

"Kamala Harris Is the Future," headlined a Times opinion piece, promoting her candidacy with Biden, saying:

"She represents an America that's evolving…toward equal opportunity and equal justice (sic)."

Reality is polar opposite the Times Big Lie.

Things have never been more dismal for working-age Americans and their families at a time when real unemployment is 30%, underemployment for most others with jobs, and nothing by either right wing of the one-party state in the works to create jobs and stimulate economic growth.

The Times: "Biden (is) the antidote to Trump (sic)."

They're both two sides of the same corrupted coin that's far too debauched to fix.

The Times: "Harris is a distinguished public servant (sic)."

In a same day article, I destroyed this claim.

In a separate opinion piece, the Times piled on more fawning, falsely saying:

"Harris represents…interracial democracy that a majority of Americans aspire to live in today (sic). She brings charisma and balance to the (Dem) presidential ticket (sic)."

"Her record as California's attorney general was on the whole progressive (sic)."

The above claims turn reality on its head.

The reaction to her selection by other establishment media was largely positive — reinventing hardline/anti-progressive Harris to near sainthood.

Other pro-Biden/Harris headlines were as follows:

WaPo: "Kamala Harris met the most important qualification for Biden's running mate"

She supports dirty business as usual, WaPo failed to explain.

WSJ: "Harris Named as Biden's Running Mate in Historic Vice Presidential Choice"

Reuters: "Why Kamala Harris may prove an elusive target for Trump"

AP News: "Biden picks Kamala Harris as running mate, first Black woman"

Fox News, Trump's favorite TV channel, called Harris "an underwhelming pick for vice president"

ABC News: "Harris makes history, as Biden builds his 'bridge (sic)' "

NBC News: "Harris has one of the Senate's most progressive voting records (sic)"

CBS News: "Biden picks Kamala Harris as running mate, adding former 2020 rival to ticket"

CNN: "Biden…name(s) first Black and South Asian American woman to run on a major political party's presidential ticket"

National Pentagon Radio (NPR): "In Historic Pick, Joe Biden Taps Kamala Harris To Be His Running Mate"

Al Jazeera: "Harris brings youth, race, gender and prosecutorial skill to the (Dem) ticket vs Donald Trump in November election (sic)"

The BBC: "Biden's VP pick: Why Kamala Harris embraces her biracial roots"

Business Insider: "Records show that Trump donated to Kamala Harris' campaigns twice while he was a private citizen"

Like past federal elections, choice for US voters in November is none at all.

Both right wings of the one-party state serve privileged interests exclusively.

It's no different now during the severest economic crisis in US history.

Ordinary Americans are increasingly on their own in a nation run by power brokers and monied interests at their expense.
