NYT Propaganda War on Trump

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Times management and editors long ago banned fair and balanced, truth-telling journalism the way it's supposed to be.

Failure to follow this unacceptable standard by correspondents and opinion staff assures automatic dismissal.

A daily blitzkrieg of anti-Trump propaganda is top-featured in daily Times editions in the run-up to November 3 and its aftermath if results for the presidency aren't known for days or weeks longer, a real possibility.

Inventing reasons to slam him, what's most important to criticize him for goes unmentioned by the Times — notably continuation of inherited hot wars and ones by other means against numerous countries, along with serving privileged interests exclusively at the expense of public health and welfare.

Commenting on dueling Thursday night town hall sessions by Trump and Biden, Times' remarks didn't surprise.

Trump's performance was much like he always is on the public stage.

Biden is cognitively challenged. Time and again he doesn't get his facts straight.

Washington whispers suggest he's losing it mentally. They've been around for some time.

Some observers believe he's experiencing the ravages of dementia that are likely to worsen ahead.

Establishment media like the Times overwhelmingly support him — suppressing his disturbing record and emotional downside.

The Times called Trump's town hall performance "defensive and combative" — claiming Biden was "deliberate."

Like pre-scripted presidential theater mischaracterized as "debates," dueling Thursday night town hall sessions were more of the same, differing largely by format.

These events preach to the faithful. They don't inform. They're unrelated to how politicians perform in office.

In the US, everyone serving in the White House and in key congressional posts serve privileged interests exclusively at the expense of the general welfare.

It's the longstanding American way. Rare exceptions prove the rule, none for the past half century.

However November 3 elections turn out, dirty business as usual will continue without missing a beat.

If the trend over the last 30 years continues, things in the next four years will be worse than under previous governments — at a time of a greater Great Depression that's likely to do far more damage to the lives and welfare of ordinary people than already, perhaps throughout the 2020s.

Instead of explaining what's vital for everyone to know, establishment media like the Times pretend the economy is recovering from early in the year decline.

Reality is worlds apart from this assessment — what tens of millions of unemployed, impoverished, food insecure Americans understand far better than TV talking heads and rosy scenario establishment experts.

In its all-out war on Trump, no misinformation, disinformation, and distortions are omitted by the self-styled newspaper of record NYT.

In an editorial board case against him titled "End Our National Crisis," Times editors said the following:

"Donald Trump's re-election campaign poses the greatest threat to American democracy since World War II (sic)."

No US democracy exists to threaten by any politicians from either right wing of the one-party state.

Borrowing from Winston Churchill's remark about democracy (sic) being "the worst form of government, except for all the others:"

Trump is the worst choice for president except for Joe Biden.

I support neither figure. Between them, Biden's near half-century of disdain for peace, equity, justice, and the rule of law in the extreme scares me most.

I dread a Biden/Harris regime for the next four years because of likely greater forever wars on humanity at home and abroad than already.

It pains me to favor one of two extremes I oppose.

Between Trump and Biden, the lesser of two evils with the incumbent remaining in office scares me less. That's where I stand.

In bashing Trump one-sidedly, Times editors ignored what I believe are enormous threats posed by Biden/Harris if they succeed him in January.

With them in power, the state of the nation may sink to new depths.

In 2016, I called Hillary the most recklessly dangerous presidential aspirant in US history — fearing possible military action against Russia, China, and/or Iran if elected president.

I have similar fears about Biden/Harris, more the latter than the former because of her militant hardline record.

Because of Biden's cognitive decline, electing them may mean a Harris presidency before their term ends in 2024.

It may also mean greater war on humanity than already, a terrifying possibility crucial to avoid.
