Edited from comment on Jetpack Aviation’s Facebook: I've been interested in solo flight since 11 when I saw Bell’s Rocket Belt flown at the ‘64 NY World’s Fair. Shortly after I thought of extending flight time by replacing the rocket with a turbojet. My cousin, Bob Meltzer, worked at General Electric’s jet-engine division. Bob saw my drawings and suggested we submit to G.E. Because I was a minor my parents signed the release papers for "Project Joob" using the first half of my first name, Joseph, and the second half of Bob. We got a polite letter back saying they weren't interested but after seeing the recent Disney movie Tomorrowland I wonder whether someone at G.E. -- which built the "Carousel of Progress" with Disney first for the World's Fair then later in Tomorrowland at Disneyland -- showed someone at Disney what a 12-year-old kid had come up with. What's the highest and longest theJB-9 has flown? Have you tried extending flight time by combining the JB9 with a hang-glider?
