So the people (FBI) that hacked the arms and legs off of Gordon Kahl (Google him) while he was still alive are throwing us a bone to make themselves look good. Big freaking deal.

Where are the other 8,000 corrupt police  investigations that the FBI should be holding?

This is misdirection if I have ever seen it.

    Here we go, again.

The best that can be said is that at least they didn't kill the guy - not for an apparent lack of trying.

The reasons these things happen, aside from the fact that way too many cops are sociopathic bullies, are the severe lack of proper training, institutionalized acceptance of "enforcement by any means necessary", lack of 'adult' supervision, total disrespect for human, constitutional, and basic legal rights and privileges of this country's citizens, and a perverse sense of entitlement that is the foundation of every form of law enforcement known to man.

In any given year, this sort of thing happens thousands of times. Mostly, the incidents go un(der)-reported and are, literally, swept under the rug. It's the way things are and the way they are apt to be. (About all any of us can do is try to stay out of the way. The people who allow and promote this crap are in charge of all our lives and aren't going to do anything to help any of us who aren't their friends and family. If you believe otherwise, you aren't and haven't been paying attention or alive for very long - or your ONE OF THEM!)

I think all these stories put Larkin Roses article   When Should You Shoot A Cop
http://www.copblock.org/5475/when-should-you-shoot-a-cop/ into perspective. It seems that with this type of lawlessness. A lawlessness that to me makes a charade of any concept of rule of law or justice. It seems that there would be all sorts of discussions about solutions since the price to pay for doing nothing is so high. We can continue to do nothing and what WILL happen is that some Americans will get fed up and doing what should be done to these cops. (Dispensing justice)  This is what the powers that be want and have planned for then they will call them terrorists (when just the opposite is true) and the war will be on. All I can say people is that we need to do something substantial and do it right now before this goes any further down hill. A start would be locking up of thousands of cops for multiple years. But how do we get there?
