I don't know how long this article has been posted, but I enjoyed reading the entire story behind it. It may have been brought up in other comments, but in the event that it hasn't, part of the reason this story has been so popular on this site might be explained by the following...
An "Alternative rock" group by the name of "Filter" released a song in the 90's, if memory serves, that was based on this suicide. Although no direct references to the event are in the song, upon listening to it, you can see the references. Today there is a metal band from New Jersey that has the name, "Budd Dwyer" They are actually touring the U.S. this july.
