Debt hits $16 trillion as responsible Republicans blast Obama's handling of economy
• APThe Treasury Dept. said the national debt topped $16 trillion, the result of chronic government deficits that have poured more than $50,000 worth of red ink onto federal ledgers for every man, woman and child in the United States.
Debt is the cause of too much spending and not enough looting. The GOP has been in charge of the spending and looting quite a bit the past 20 years. They have made the problem worse, not better. They are no different than the Democrats and are using this problem to feather their own nests.
Debt is not connected to the economy except that as the looting increases the economy suffers as people will work less because their labor is being stolen. The solution is not voting but withdrawing your labor from the theft. It's not my debt!
The debt comes from Bush I's/Clinton's/Bush II's/Obama's desire to spend - and Congress' CONCENT to cut the check. President's, like children, beg for candy but it is the Congressional parents who give it to them.
