Bitcoin is changing all this. All you need a a sheet of paper that includes your paper wallet. Or, if you have a computer with you - or even a simple flash drive - you can have your wallet stored on it. Or even better, upload you wallet to several places on the Internet. Nobody can crack the encryption, so it is safe. Download your wallet later.

Then, once you are at your destination, get Multibit running, import your wallet into it, and get your bitcoins. Use any one of the exchanges to get your currency to your bank.

In the U.S., use Bitquick.co or LocalBitcoin.com to exchange your bitcoins for dollars.

While a lot of this is not practical for people outside of the U.S., Europe, Russia, China and Australia, all things Bitcoin are improving worldwide on a regular basis.
