Get out the history books and take a look. The vast majority of the European people that settled the lands that were to become, the nation of The United States of America, came for FREEDOM from tyranny. And one of the greatest of the freedoms that they came for, was freedom of religion.

Next, take a look at the basic form of religion that was prevalent at the time of the fight for independence. It was Bible Christianity. I'm sure there were some who were Jewish, and didn't accept Jesus as the Messiah. There might have been a smattering of Buddhist-like Eastern religions. It seems that there some Satan worshipers - witchcraft. And there must have been some worship of pagan gods being done by some of the African slaves brought over.

But, the vast majority of the people were Bible-believing Christians. And many, many of them knew their Bibles well - since it was one of the major books used for teaching children (and others) how to read and write English.

Other points of early USA religion:
1. Church services held regularly in Federal Government public buildings;
2. Many Government buildings and structures still exist with Bible/Christian inscriptions and architectural inferences to the same.
3. Wasn't the first President of the Continental Congress the guy who founded the International Bible Society and ran it for many years, distributing Bibles for free to all the immigrants that came to the USA?
4. Weren't many of the early national leaders, including Washington and Jefferson, dyed-in-the-wool Christians. And didn't those of the leaders, who were not so inclined, still fully support the directing role that the Bible and Christianity played in the formation and operation of the early nation?

The MAIN POINT is, even without the faith in Jesus part, the themes of the Bible are some of the best moral foundations for all people to follow. Training in them produces ethics, morals, integrity, honesty, and a host of other desirable attributes within those people that take the Bible to heart. And this, along with the Jesus salvation part, is what we have been lacking to a very great degree for a long time, now, in Government.

If any group TRULY maintains good and right ethics, morals, integrity, and honesty, and starts to clean up Government... well, isn't that kind of what we all want? Government cleaned up?
