video is as false as false can be. they just track and redirect energy when it learns your typical down times.  In developing nations with limited electricity smart grids would benefit them by fully managing the electrical currents and redistributing excess current for example. there is no way the government can track you past your energy use, which is useless information as who knows if you decided to say, play World of Warcraft some random night versus following your traditional energy usage schedule. there is no surveillance past computer energy monitoring. if the government wanted to track you in your house we all know they have satellites with inferred and heat tracking.
