I'm very interested in the conflict between the Sunnis and Shias that has reportedly been going on for 15 hundred years or so througout the Middle East, East Asia and parts of Africa. Behind every religious conflict there is a politcal conflict that is usually premised on the conflict of Centralized Govenment vs Indivudal Rights. Religions appear to convolute the political realities yet there are always important socio-economic principles involved in the conflicts. Does anyone know of any written analysis, books etc on this issue.
