After reading your article about then judge , prosecutor, police and public defenders working as a team to send people away , I was really grateful I wasn’t the only one.
This is what happened to me. Glendale police on Sep 2, 2004 raided my home with a search warrant because they said I was stealing TV from Cox, After 6 hours and six detectives searing my home I was sent to the county jail in Maricopa County .This was on a Thursday,. I was charged with 3 counts of id theft, and 1 drug charge, I later bonded out on a Sunday at about 11 pm. I was told to go On Monday to the court house to pretrial services( two different bonds?).well Monday I went to pretrial services and was told there was no case for me. I went then to Superior Court inn Glendale where I was supposed to appear for arraignment and was told the same. I had to put in for an exoneration of bond ,them telling me charges were scratched. It was impossible was charged with offenses. Now five months go by and my husband is stopped with a minor traffic violation and I go to jail saying there is a warrant out for me in that case, The charges were dropped and they recharged me under my maiden name to avoid double jeopardy/.My public defender told me it is ok they can do that, believing I was guilty. A judge at pretrial meeting told me it was ok for them to drop and recharge me with same charges and it was sok that Glendale detectives had a civilian from Cox ( an interested party in my house while they did the search and it was ok for them tom leave me standing in front of door while they started search about a half an hour the brought me in and questioned me then took me to police station. I knew that my rights were violated and now I have a judge telling me, besides the prosecutor and my attorney telling me it is ok sign the plea or we will give you 20 years. I finally made bond then went to rule 11 court for well over the allowed time out of custody and a man came to my home for instruction. Of course the person that said I could be brought back to competence was the same who ran the competency program at an very large fee, my lawyer refused to have me see any other person ( of course).I was living in a different county and they finally switched it to that county and my counselor told me I could not be brought back to competence and put a report in. It was not even looked at , I jumped bond in 2006 April because the prosecutor kept wanting to keep me in custody to regain competency. After other legal problems I was finally in court again on this charge the original judge put a no bond on me and after meeting with the psy doctor was told to court I was competent ad the judge set a $5000 bond. .That was in the beginning of March 2010.My husband tried to bond me out and the Maricopa County jail would not release me, they said I was sat a no bond status. I spoke with public defender about it so did my husband and daughter no one could get it resolved , I was sentenced in June to prison and I was still before court at a no bond status.
What makes it so bad is that my PD Alicia Dominquez first time told me there was no evidence against me but take the plea anyway. Now after almost 5 years there really was nothing. The public defender Todd Baker told me they could not find the case and neither could the prosecutor office it was gone. Yet he would not take t to trail and said if I wanted to take to trail I would probably be in the county jail for at least another 6 months and I had been there almost 4 months already So I signed a year in prison plea. My husband had to do all the leg work for the public defender and still he was not doing his job, we were supposed to go for mitigating circumstances and he forgot to put it in. My PSI had charged on it I never had and no one would correct it, I told the PSI office what the charges in Florida were but she would not correct it. I looked like a bottom feeder to the judge .
This system is the worst in all the United States they are so corrupt, people get railroaded everyday and if you do not have the extra money for a private attorney forget you get sold out every time.
Thanks for listening
