Stewart Rhodes Comes Out Of Hiding And Has The Nerve To Ask...
07-14-2016  •  The Pete Santilli Show
...Will You Take Up Arms To Fight Marxist Terrorism? At What Cost Will You Follow His Lead

OATHKEEPER STEWART RHODES: A NATIONWIDE CALL TO ARMS

Stewart Rhodes seems to have crawled out of his hiding place under the bed and given his Oathkeepers a pretty big nation-wide directive concerning the killing of law enforcement by sniper — in Dallas Texas this past week;

Therefore, I call on all Oath Keepers, and all patriotic Americans, to come to the aid of their local police, and to the aid of their communities, and unite and coordinate in mutual defense against this orchestrated campaign of Marxist terrorism, which is the modern version of the wave of terrorism we saw in the late 60s and early 70s by the Marxist Weather Underground and related groups (who also frequently targeted police), along with the closely related Jihadist terrorism offensive, with Orlando being merely the latest in an ongoing wave of attacks.    What is now needed, more than ever, is the reestablishment of the militia of the people, trained, equipped and organized in each town, to defend against what is now clearly a "Tet Offensive" American style, as Navy SEAL veteran Matt Bracken warned.    While we work to reestablish that militia system, you must go armed at all times, and be prepared, at all times, to defend your community against these Marxist terrorists as well as their Islamist terror allies.  Remember, they are in league, and you are their common enemy and their common targets. ~ Stewart Rhodes

AT WHAT COST WILL YOU FOLLOW HIS LEAD

Nobody expected to see the face of Stewart Rhodes in Burns, Oregon back in January as Mr. Rhodes made it quite clear his organization wanted no part in the occupation of a wildlife refuge, simply ignoring the fact that if there was ever a clear case of "Marxist style terrorism,"  it was certainly rearing it's ugly head in Harney County.  Documentation of the event well proved that Burns Oregon was not just about the Hammond family.  Countless hours of video proved over and over again that there were others who were feeling the heavy boot of government on the backs of their necks by Federal,  State, and Local Officials who were willing to do anything to keep the people in-line.

Stewart Rhodes failed to see the broader picture in Harney County and he failed to hold the right people accountable.  Why?  Because he was too busy reprimanding Ammon Bundy and anyone else he could demonize, for trying to expose the "Marxist style terrorism" being perpetrated on what we now know to be – at the very least – 30% of the people in that county.  Just because it wasn't a black man shooting white cops surely doesn't mean it was any less urgent.  After all, isn't what was going on in Harney County exactly what Rhodes claims is spreading across this Country and he has taken an oath to defend against?   It could not have been any clearer than when Dwight Hammond said it himself – "This is not just about us – This is about our Country."   Surely Oathkeepers could have found one good family other than the Hammond's, they would be willing to stand up for in Harney County.

I suppose running people out of business and charging them with terrorism – threatening people with retaliation if they said anything – confiscating people's property, leveling high fines, enforcing unfair outrageous restrictions, and law enforcement forcing oral sex on female inmates for extra jail perks  – rates pretty low on the Oathkeeper scale of  what constitutes "Marxist terrorism" in Harney County Oregon for Stewart Rhodes.  Rhodes did however sit in the comfort of his own home typing out some pretty wordy declarations that offered Ammon Bundy a "honorable" way to leave the refuge. Interestingly enough, I could find nothing in all those declarations that suggested Mr. Bundy should fain some imminent drone strike as a reason to high-tail-it and run.

Police Brutality and Militarization
I was a cop - but I still don't know how to survive a police stop
07-13-2016  •  https://www.theguardian.com, Michael A Wood, Jr
Philando Castile did nothing that should have jeopardized his life, and still he died. Here's how policing needs to change if we want to escape the nightmare

I am often asked: how can I make sure I get home safe after I am pulled over by the police? Following the killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, I feel I should know the answer to that question – but I don't.

You might think I'm the ideal person to answer: I served four years in the US Marine corps' version of Swat, and 11 years as a Baltimore police officer, detective, sergeant and shift commander. I've participated in innumerable car stops, 400-plus arrests and every training event that I could. And yet, I have no idea how to respond to that basic question.

Following Castile's death, my friend, Frank MacArthur tweeted: "Brother got gunned down for no reason. He had a burned out tail light. Complied. Did EVERYTHING cop asked. STILL not good enough. For America." He is right. Based on what we know from available reports, Mr Castile did nothing that could have jeopardized his life. There is nothing he could have done differently.

Surviving a Traffic Stop

Marc J. Victor, Phoenix Criminal Attorney

Surviving a Traffic Stop – Being pulled over by a police officer can be a stressful experience. Although life is full of such experiences, unlike many other stressful experiences, a traffic stop has the potential to end in a loss of money, liberty or even life. No two traffic stops are entirely identical. Therefore, the advisable course of conduct will vary depending on the situation. However, there are some general rules which can be helpful in many situations. Watch this video:

Surviving a Traffic Stop

The best piece of advice one can offer is to avoid being pulled over in the first place. A traffic stop offers nothing to be gained. The best case scenario for the driver is to leave as if the stop never occurred losing only their time. On the other hand, the downside can be disastrous.

Vehicle equipment violations such as expired tags or an unlit taillight equate to a neon sign on your car inviting a police officer to pull you over. Remember, a police officer can legally justify a traffic stop based on an equipment violation even if the police officer subjectively intended to investigate some unrelated issue. Moving violations such as speeding or failing to use turn signals also serve to legally justify a traffic stop. Avoid giving the police a free pass to pull you over.

Notwithstanding your best efforts, you may nonetheless find yourself being pulled over by the police. Needless to say, do not attempt to flee as this will earn you a felony charge as well as a very excited and unfriendly police officer at the end of the chase. Your main goal should be to survive the traffic stop with your life and liberty intact. A traffic stop is a terrible time to be testing out new legal theories or arguing about constitutional law. You can resolve any disputes with the police officer in court at a later date.

The law is well settled that a police officer can order both the driver and any passengers out of the vehicle at a traffic stop. However, do not exit the vehicle until the police officer orders you to do so. If you are fortunate enough to have a passenger at your traffic stop, you should ask the passenger to carefully observe all events. Your passenger may be an important witness if events during the traffic stop deteriorate.

Although there are many different varieties of police officers, you should expect a police officer who is nervous and possibly excited. Do not give the police officer reasons to be suspicious. Do not engage in any quick or covert movements. You should place both of your hands in plain view on the steering wheel.

If there ever exists a good time to socialize with a police officer, a traffic stop is not one of them. You should attempt to end the traffic stop as quickly as possible. You have no constitutional right to a friendly or courteous police officer. Do not demand to know the reason for the traffic stop. Remain calm, polite and respectful at all times even if you have to fake it. You should immediately produce your license, vehicle registration, and auto insurance upon request. Plan ahead by storing these items in an easily accessible place so you are not fumbling around trying to find them in front of the police officer. Such conduct is often interpreted as alcohol or drug impairment.

Use your common sense. You should quickly assess the police officer. There are some excellent public servant type police officers who I often refer to as "peace officers." On the other hand, there are those who revel in the overwhelming amount of power afforded to police officers who I refer to as "law enforcement officers." You must use extraordinary caution when dealing with the law enforcement officer as things can escalate very quickly.

Most police officers are honest; some are not. Unless you personally know the police officer, you should not assume you are interacting with an honest person. Because we live in a time when mere possession can be a serious crime, a dishonest police officer can rather easily cause an innocent person to be charged with serious felony offenses.

Constitutional rights exist, at least, in theory, to protect the innocent. Do not give your rights away. If this is not obvious to you by now, please see my article entitled, "Don't Be Your Own Worst Enemy." I always advise against consenting to any search or talking to a police officer. During a traffic stop, you should communicate your refusals especially politely. Always keep your main goal in mind at a traffic stop.

Surviving a Traffic Stop

Surviving a Traffic Stop

If you simply cannot resist the urge to talk to a police officer, I suggest you read the back of my business card. This is a good way to document exactly what you said to the police officer. Do not simply hand the card to the officer. Remember, nobody can invoke your rights but you.

As a general rule, you should not volunteer information or answer any questions. However, Arizona law now requires a person to inform a police officer about the presence of a deadly weapon if asked. If you are not asked about a weapon, do not open a potential can of worms. However, if the police officer is about to discover the presence of a weapon, you should inform the police officer about all details of the weapon so as to avoid an accident. Also, if you have a concealed weapons permit, you must produce the permit upon the officer's request. If you are asked to sign an affidavit of service, sign it. Failure to sign an affidavit of service will likely result in an unnecessary arrest. In such a case, the officer had discretion to arrest you but decided against it. You cannot waive your right to trial at a traffic stop. Even if you disagree with the charge, being arrested for failure to sign an affidavit of service will not strengthen your case.

If you are arrested, do not resist. Resisting even an unlawful arrest can earn you a felony charge. Expect a search of your vehicle and your person upon arrest. You should request to call an attorney immediately. If you are given a choice, do not opt to have your vehicle towed. You should expect to see a judge within twenty-four hours, and you should try to arrange for an attorney at that hearing.

Traffic stops are not pleasant. However, handled with the right amount of tact, many traffic stops will result in nothing more than a waste of your time. Even for the more significant traffic stops, fighting it out in court is always a better choice than haggling with a police officer who has the power, and maybe the inclination, to arrest you. – Surviving a Traffic Stop

When Should You Shoot A Cop - by Larken Rose

10-07-2011 • www.copblock.org

That question, even without an answer, makes most "law-abiding taxpayers" go into knee-jerk conniptions. The indoctrinated masses all race to see who can be first, and loudest, to proclaim that it is NEVER okay to forcibly resist "law enforcement."

In doing so, they also inadvertently demonstrate why so much of human history has been plagued by tyranny and oppression.

In an ideal world, cops would do nothing except protect people from thieves and attackers, in which case shooting a cop would never be justified. In the real world, however, far more injustice, violence, torture, theft, and outright murder has been committed IN THE NAME of "law enforcement," than has been committed in spite of it. To get a little perspective, try watching a documentary or two about some of the atrocities committed by the regimes of Stalin, or Lenin, or Chairman Mao, or Hitler, or Pol Pot, or any number of other tyrants in history. Pause the film when the jackboots are about to herd innocent people into cattle cars, or gun them down as they stand on the edge of a ditch, and THEN ask yourself the question, "When should you shoot a cop?" Keep in mind, the evils of those regimes were committed in the name of "law enforcement." And as much as the statement may make people cringe, the history of the human race would have been a lot LESS gruesome if there had been a lot MORE "cop-killers" around to deal with the state mercenaries of those regimes.

( And then we learn this...)

Overton window

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overton_window

The Overton window, also known as the window of discourse, is the range of ideas the public will accept. It is used by media pundits.[1][2] The term is derived from its originator, Joseph P. Overton (1960–2003),[3] a former vice president of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy,[4] who in his description of his window claimed that an idea's political viability depends mainly on whether it falls within the window, rather than on politicians' individual preferences.[5] According to Overton's description, his window includes a range of policies considered politically acceptable in the current climate of public opinion, which a politician can recommend without being considered too extreme to gain or keep public office.

Overview

Overton Window diagram.svg

Overton described a spectrum from "more free" to "less free" with regard to government intervention, oriented vertically on an axis. As the spectrum moves or expands, an idea at a given location may become more or less politically acceptable. His degrees of acceptance[6] of public ideas are roughly:

Unthinkable

Radical

Acceptable

Sensible

Popular

Policy

The Overton window is an approach to identifying which ideas define the domain of acceptability within a democracy's possible governmental policies. Proponents of policies outside the window seek to persuade or educate the public in order to move and/or expand the window. Proponents of current policies, or similar ones, within the window seek to convince people that policies outside it should be deemed unacceptable.

After Overton's death, others have examined the concept of adjusting the window by the deliberate promotion of ideas outside of it, or "outer fringe" ideas, with the intention of making less fringe ideas acceptable by comparison.[7] The "door-in-the-face" technique of persuasion is similar.

Historical precedents

An idea similar to the Overton window was expressed by Anthony Trollope in 1868 in his novel Phineas Finn:

"Many who before regarded legislation on the subject as chimerical, will now fancy that it is only dangerous, or perhaps not more than difficult. And so in time it will come to be looked on as among the things possible, then among the things probable;–and so at last it will be ranged in the list of those few measures which the country requires as being absolutely needed. That is the way in which public opinion is made."

"It is no loss of time," said Phineas, "to have taken the first great step in making it."

"The first great step was taken long ago," said Mr. Monk,–"taken by men who were looked upon as revolutionary demagogues, almost as traitors, because they took it. But it is a great thing to take any step that leads us onwards."

In his "West India Emancipation" speech at Canandaigua, New York, in 1857,[8] abolitionist leader Frederick Douglass described how public opinion limits the ability of those in power to act with impunity:

Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.

The idea is very similar to an earlier theory that came to be known as Hallin's spheres. In his 1986 book The Uncensored War,[9] communication scholar Daniel C. Hallin posits three areas of media coverage into which a topic may fall. The areas are diagrammed as concentric circles called spheres. From innermost to outermost they are the Sphere of Consensus, the Sphere of Legitimate Controversy, and the Sphere of Deviance.

Hallin's theory is developed and applied primarily as a theory that explains varying levels of objectivity in media coverage, but it also accounts for the ongoing contest among media and other political actors about what counts as legitimate disagreement, potentially leading to changes in the boundaries between spheres. As one study that applies Hallin's theory explains, "the borders between the three spheres are dynamic, depending on the political climate and on the editorial line of the various media outlets."[10]

In popular culture

Christopher Buckley's novel Boomsday applies the Overton window to the subject of Social Security reform in the United States. The technique used was to agitate for "voluntary transitioning", that is, suicide at a certain age in exchange for benefits, as a method of reducing the cost of Social Security. Ultimately, the stated goal was for a more modest result of reducing the burden that it was claimed was imposed on younger people for the costs of Social Security.

In 2010, conservative talk-show host and columnist Glenn Beck published a novel titled The Overton Window.[11]

Owen Jones describes the Overton window in discussion at a Durham University lecture he gave on January 21, 2015 called The Establishment and how they get away with it.[12] In a June 7, 2015 video discussion at the The Racket book launch, Owen Jones admits "I'm obsessed with the concept" of the Overton window with description and discussion and examples of ideas once wacky are now mainstream while ideas once mainstream are now wacky.[13]
