Accord=deal=purchase=SOS position BOUGHT!
AND once again we see the U. S. Constitution ignored! Article 1 Section 6 states: "No Senator or Representative shall, during the time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil office under the authority of the United States, which shall have been created, or the emoluments whereof shall have been increased during such time: and no person holding any office under the United States, shall be a member of either House during his continuance in office." I looked on the net for some kind of layman's explanation, and Wikipedia states: "Furthermore, Senators and Representatives cannot resign to take newly created or higher-paying political positions; rather, they must wait until the conclusion of the term for which they were elected. If Congress increases the salary of a particular officer, it may later reduce that salary to permit an individual to resign from Congress and take that position (known as the Saxbe fix)." I know Wiki gets things wrong but I believe they understand this one properly. Please let me know if I'm off track on this issue. (BTW - doesn't this hold for Obama too?)
