Are the Winter Olympics worth it?

• Slatest
"It took decades to pay off the cost of those Montreal summer Olympic Games from 34 years ago," the BBC reported. And, at a cost of nearly 6 billion Canadian dollars (U.S. $5.7 billion), it'll probably take a while to pay off these Games as well. (When Vancouver was awarded the Games in 2003, the city anticipated the final cost to be about 2 billion Canadian dollars.) "Despite the large costs, it is hoped that there will be tangible economic benefits—if even just short term—for Vancouver and the wider province of British Columbia," the BBC reported.

The funny thing is that I don't know anyone that gives a crap about the olympics, especially the winter variety. My favorite part about Conan O'Brien's last week was his constant ripping on NBC... he said they've already lost 200 Million bucks on the Winter Olympics. HA!
