As residents of Arizona, we need to urge Governor Brewer and state legislators to veto SB1070/HB2632, sponsored by Senator Russell Pearce (R-18) and Representative David Gowan (R-30).

This bill would cost Arizona millions to train government employees, incarcerate and prosecute for people who have committed administrative violations, and defend against lawsuits payouts that are guaranteed to be filed against the state. The bill is an unfunded mandate. It applies a one-size-fits-all approach to law enforcement and local governance that takes local decision-making, discretion, and flexibility away from local agencies and officials. We need the Governor and legislature to focus on real priorities that will support business, ensure quality education, and protect the health and wellbeing of all of Arizona's residents. This bill does none of that.
