Meredith Whitney Says U.S. States Resemble Greece in Financial Condition

Meredith Whitney said the financial conditions of U.S. states resemble those in Greece, whose debt was downgraded yesterday by Standard & Poor’s to junk status. “Unemployment may derail the housing market,” said Whitney, founder and chief executive officer of Meredith Whitney Advisory Group in New York. She spoke today at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Los Angeles.
