Hey, You! Pick a Winner in Our Wired Volt Challenge

• Wired

We’ve picked three people to drive the Chevrolet Volt during an all-expenses paid trip to Detroit, and we’re asking you to choose someone to accompany them.

We received a ton of entries for the Wired Volt Challenge, in which we asked readers to submit a brief video telling us what they’ve done to reduce their carbon footprint. After sifting through all the videos, which were judged on their creativity in both production values and approach to going green, we’ve named three winners. Drumroll, please:

Simon Metcalf, an engineering student who is converting a VW Golf to electric power. Guy Marsden, who has installed a 3.7-kilowatt solar array on the roof, uses solar power to heat his home and water, and drives a hybrid. Oh, yeah: He also converted his lawnmower to solar electric power. Patrick Wang, who has taken several steps to prepare himself, and his home, for the Chevrolet Volt.

But we’re not done. We’ve selected 10 runners-up and are inviting Wired.com readers to choose a fourth winner of the Wired Volt Challenge. The winners get a behind-the-scenes look at how and where the Volt was developed before flogging one at Milford Proving Grounds.

So, watch the videos and vote for the one you like best. We’ll announce the readers’ choice winner June 7 and share all four videos then.

Runner-up videos after the jump.
