New Taser can strike suspect 100 feet away

• The Columbus Dispatch

Columbus police have deployed a new shotgun-style stun gun that can hit targets up to 100 feet away.

The Taser X12 shoots wireless cartridges that travel about 1,000 feet per second, officials said. The projectiles are similar in size and shape to traditional shotgun shells

I agree with your opinion of reporters they must get them from the people that are too dumb to be government school teachers.

It is nice to know that the dumbest city (Las Vegas) is not the only place to hire reporters who are illiterate in science and math. Really, 1000 fps? And it did not dawn on the reporter that anything, with the possible exception of a marshmallow, that hits a person at a velocity of 1000 fps is going to do serious damage. And that anything the size of this cartridge and is solid will F***ING KILL THEM!!! Those shells weigh 2/3 of an oz or about 50% more than a .45 You get hit almost anywhere with that af 1000 FPS, and you will be lucky not to die, and will be seriously injure. But weight, the author did not know the mass of the cartridge since if he had actually done any like... reporting (that is "like reporting', what I am doing, not actual reporting which is what he should have done) he would have done some research and found that the true muzzle velocity is under 300 fps, or 1/3 what is claimed here, or about 1/10 the energy. If you were not paying owners and managers so much you would hire some smart technical person to proof read any article that attempts to report on actual real physical things, not people.
