We are already there!

     To experience the regression of the species - not some future "de-evolution" - all one has to do is drive some form of motor vehicle on any of the many public roads, just about anywhere in the U.S.

      The single most dangerous activity of modern Americans is driving a vehicle... Second, being any encounter with an armed cops, while doing so. The entire system of transit is beyond the capability of the mass of humans to effectively deal with. The reasons have more to do with individual stupidity and social impotemce than with the mechanics of it all.

      Anyone who speeds, drives under any influence, tailgates, jumps stop lights and signs, rides the center lines, and is too self-involved to occaisionally defer to another driver doesn't know how to drive and is a sociopathic fool.

      My point: [Way in the] future cultural anthropologists will likely see this epoch as having been defined by a genus of hominids known as "monkeys with car keys".
