You can’t blame Allied Waste Services for being competitive, but you can blame local officials in Maplewood, Minnesota for not listening to their citizens. On Monday night, despite citizen demand, the city of Maplewood made a decision to cut down garbage hauler contracts from nine to one, thus creating a monopoly on the garbage industry in the area. Starting next October, Allied Waste Services will have the sole responsibility of garbage collection in Maplewood, Minnesota.
