Is the entertainment industry trying to tell us something?
Most of us have seen the Dark Knight trailers (if you haven't, click here), where we learn Cat Woman is a steal-from-the-rich-give-to-the-poor hero/villain spouting references to class struggle that sound like Occupy Wall Street and Karl Marx had a love child.
Fine. That's one.
Today, we watched the trailer for the new Rainbow 6: Patriots video game (via Hot Air). We're not gamers, nor do we ever intend to be, but it looks beautiful.
As for content, in this story, the rich get punished for inequality but it's done really violently and it turns those fighting inequality into villains.
The trailer features a group of seriously armed men breaking into an office, shooting an executive, strapping bombs to his body, and throwing him out the window onto the street far below.
He then explodes.
We're assuming this exploding man is a Wall Streeter, because this is what the attackers have a monologue that says:
"This is the day we've been waiting for: Years of training, years of sacrifice. This is for the jobs you've streamlines, the debts you've collected. This is for the homes you foreclosed on, the bailouts you took. We are the true patriots, it's time for a new balance of power. You may not answer to the governments, but you will answer to us."
