Americans buy record numbers of guns for Christmas

According to the FBI, over 1.5 million background checks on customers were requested by gun dealers to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System in December. Nearly 500,000 of those were in the six days before Christmas.

It was the highest number ever in a single month, surpassing the previous record set in November.

On Dec 23 alone there were 102,222 background checks, making it the second busiest single day for buying guns in history.

The actual number of guns bought may have been even higher if individual customers took home more than one each.

Well now, it seems that everyone isn't sitting on their brains! It's about time.

Here's the thing:  If you bought a gun, you need to learn how to effeciently and effectively employ it in defense of your life and the life (lives) of others. You also need to know how to safely carry it; how to safely store it - should you chose to; and, you need to be certain that you are in compliance with your local, regional, and state laws - storage, transport, and carry. (Don't become a criminal; and, for God's sake, don't ask a cop what the laws in your area are. Most cops really don't know a damn thing about the firearms laws in any area. Contact the county prosecutor or a lawyer friend, if they aren't rabid anti-gun hooplaphobes.)

Make certain that your family is aware of the basic rules of firearms safety. And don't take it for granted that your idiot kid(s) will act responsibly around any firearm. If you want to store a firearm safely, keep it in your possession - assuming you're not one of those types who believes that being born with a penis makes you a man, who automatically "knows" how to use a firearm.

Further:  Don't tell anyne you own a gun. If you carry a gun, DON'T TELL ANYONE! Buy as much ammo as you can reasonably afford and no more than you can easily carry. (Remember, if you get in a gunfight and win, there will be guns and ammo littering the field; if you own more guns and ammo than you can carry, you will have wasted a great deal of money and will either have to leave them behind for your enemies or destroy them.)

Congratulations to all who are now "citizens" - owners of the means with which to defend themselves against all manner of arbitrary criminal violence. Tho those who remain "subjects" - unarmed, good luck; you will surely need it!
