Why a cyber-security bill named CISPA is BIG cause for concern

• The Hals Report
In the last few weeks there has been a virtual outcry on the internet by citizens who oppose the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA.) Yet despite citizen concern and opposition, the house still passed the bill by a margin of 248-168 on April 26th. Many people believe the legislation will give government even more power when it comes to surveillance on the internet. Some websites and news agencies have even said the bill will eventually destroy American citizens privacy and 4th amendment rights online. Rep. Jared Polis, a Democrat from Colorado even said CISPA would “waive every single privacy law ever enacted in the name of cyber-security.” The American Civil Liberties Union and the Electronic Frontier Foundation both oppose the legislation due to the amount of private information the government would be allowed to monitor.
