Why the 2nd Amendment - by Walter E. Williams

• Lew Rockwell
Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., shootings, said: "The British are not coming. ... We don't need all these guns to kill people." Lewis' vision, shared by many, represents a gross ignorance of why the framers of the Constitution gave us the Second Amendment.

The Framers of the CONstitution didn't give us the Second Amendment.  They were forced to after not getting enough states to ratify the damned thing, and two states who ratified trying to back out to prevent the mobs from hanging the signers.  So the proposed a dozen spelled out sets of Rights including the  Amendment that said just because something is not spelled out doesn't mean it is not our Right.  Which of course means what IS spelled out IS  spelled out like, "CONgress SHALL make NO law...."
