U.S., Peru to hold military, political talks next week [The Camel gets its nose in another tent]
• Washington TimesThe State Department on Friday announced that it will host extensive military and political talks with a delegation from Peru in Washington next week.
The talks, building on a 2011 dialogue begun in Lima, will focus on implementing the non-binding memorandum of understanding that was signed in 2012 by Deputy Secretary of State William Burns and Peruvian Ambassador Harold Forsyth.
The dialogue “focuses on a wide range of security and defense issues, including shared strategic challenges in the region and continuing efforts to enhance partnerships in security cooperation, peacekeeping, civil-defense cooperation, nonproliferation, and disarmament and nuclear security,” the State Department said in a statement.
The talks will be held March 18 and 19 in Washington.
