Kawaski to add new Terminator-esque robot to its workforce

Speculations of a Terminator-esque killer android future picked up in media circles this month following the debut in Japan of a first-ever stainless-steel humanoid robot. The MSR05, as its designers at Kawasaki Heavy Industries named it, doesn’t have laser-shooting eyes or a malignant-looking metallic grin, like the T-800 of the 1990s epic action series. But it looks nonetheless quite formidable in its shiny armor-like encasement. And while it doesn’t carry weapons and isn’t made for military uses, it does look capable of taking aim at some existing human jobs in factory settings.

Kawasaki;s engineers designed the robot with the expectation that it could take up intensive labor in the company’s pharmaceuticals division, and their finished product appears fully prepared to deliver.
