The Bipartisan Policy Center’s (BPC) Homeland Security Project (HSP) has released a new report reviewing the tactics of Al-Qaeda and its affiliates, as well providing legislative and executive branch recommendations on how to
counter the evolving threat of terrorism and threats to the homeland. The report, Jihadist Terrorism: A Threat Assessment, recommends the United States maintain a military presence in Afghanistan after the NATO mission is slated to end in 2014. The first of the HSP’s annual report also concludes that the government needs to incorporate lessons from the Boston Bombings into current emergency plans for small-scale terrorist attacks.
