To meet that 2014 target, Virgin Galactic has been continuing to test their SpaceShipTwo rocket-powered spaceplane from Spaceport America (we have one of those!) in the Mojave desert. This most recent test was the third time SS2 has gone powered supersonic, and everything went flawlessly, with the spacecraft reaching 71,000 feet at Mach 1.4, the highest it's ever been.
