Comedian Russell Brand called for 50,000 protestors to stage a peaceful revolution to remove the British government from power.
The remarks were made in London's Parliament Square, next to the legislative houses.
He told the assembled crowd that government no longer carries out the will of the people.
Brand said legislators "...do not represent us, they represent their friends in big business. It's time for us to take back our power."
More than 50,000 people were in attendance at the event where Brand made his remarks.
The crowd assembled to protest funding cuts for social programs.
At one point, the actor ripped off his shirt, replacing it with a T-shirt that read "Firefighters rescue people, not bankers."
Brand has also been encouraging people to abandon the currently political system. Over the last few months, the entertainer has spoken out against the current political situation, becoming an icon for dissatisfied Britons.
