Judge Who Sentenced Saddam Executed by ISIS

Raouf Abdul Rahman, the judge who sentenced Saddam Hussein to death, has been captured and executed by revolutionary forces in Iraq. Rahman was reportedly captured by the forces of ISIS on June 16th. Hussein was sentenced to death by hanging in 2006, as Rahmen presided over the proceedings. He was assigned to head the trial in January of that year, after the first judge in the case was deemed to be too lenient toward the defendant. The court under Rahman found Hussein guilty of crimes against humanity for the deaths of 148 people after an assassination attempt on the Iraqi leader. Political observers believe the militant group executed Rahman in retaliation for that decision. Some critics charge Judge Rahman was biased in the case against Hussein.
