Is the deteriorating state of American infrastructure endangering the public, for the sake of political gain? Bridges across the United States are in dire need of repair or replacement, and water and electrical systems, dams and roads are also falling apart. The American Society of Civil Engineers recently rated the state of American infrastructure. The group gave the country a grade of D+. More than ten percent of bridges nationwide are considered structurally deficient, and 2,000 dams are in need of repair. Meanwhile, families attempting to get "off the grid' are being prevented from doing so by regulations and laws, both federal and local.
