Storm brings heavy flooding to Brooklyn as Brooklyn Bridge wall collapses

Torrential rains Wednesday night threatened to wash away parts of Brooklyn, as streets flooded and part of a wall collapsed beneath the Brooklyn Bridge.

Crashing thunder and lightning ripped across dark skies as an early evening storm soaked commuters.

One family was hit by falling mortar and their 4-month-old baby, Kiarra Jackson, got knocked to the street as they took shelter under the bridge.

Jerome Dilligard, 52, said his wife noticed water seeping out from between the heavy stones as they waited for the rain to stop. Dilligard, a retired correction officer, decided to run for their nearby car.
